starting chemo
Hi Max...
I think it depends on the individual oncologist's viewpoint and on the condition of the patient too. Your wife has had a hard time of it lately and you mentioned that she had sepsis and needed antibiotics. The body is a marvellous thing really and can withstand a lot with help. However, your oncologist may want to wait until things are healed because the chemo drug can lower her white cell count and so some of her resistence to disease. Also, recent studies have shown that starting chemo sooner rather than later doesn't seem to make any difference to how a patient responds to treatment. These are only my thoughts but they are based on what I know about the disease. I'm not a doctor. It might be a good idea to call the doctor's office and ask for a quick telephone appointment. When you get to speak to the doctor, you'll be in a position to see what the thinking behind the late starting of chemo is. Knowing why certain things are done can give reassurance that decisions are made for good reasons. Healing thoughts are sent to all of you.0
