Yes Victoria, you live in paradise! I came home to 100 degrees, hot, dry and plenty of smoke from fires!
Enjoy the 4th,
Carol
We have been in the high 90's for a week, but, I think we only have a few days left of that. Then it is supposed to be nice, in the 80's, which I love!
Stay cool everyone!

Hot and Hot
Here in Iowa -it's been very hot! This is usually weather we might expect in August but we've been at it for quite awhile already. We are in a drought too! It stinks for the big industries and farmers as we rely on the corn crop for everything. But the Friday storm went through with spotty damage only - trees down and such. I feel sorry for all those east of us without power right now.
Prayers for a speedy recovery of electricity! I'm worried for everyone in the fire areas and fire potential areas. Stay safe everyone!

Humid and hot here tooAngieD said:Continuing HOT!
Our forecast for the next 4 days here in KS is 103, 104, 103, 103. Our cul de sac neighborhood has had an annual Jul 4th party since before we moved here in 2005. This year we're postponing it to an Oktoberfest.
Angie
Humid and hot here too Susie. Our fourth of July party is going to have everyone inside our house I think. LOL

We have friends in MontanaRague said:Hot, DRY, WINDY, Smokey
It's hotter than average (mid to high 90's). Last Mon we shattered the old record with 109 that day but that's the only 100+ day I know of. We are officially back in drought condition again (3 yrs ago our 9 yr severe drought broke). It is windy 25 - 35 mph. Smoke everywhere.
We have at least 5 fires that I know of burning in the Black Hills. 2 (Crow Peak near Spearfish and Rapid Point near Sheridan Lake and contained/controlled the last I heard. 2 are near Custer and Edgemont and one is near Newcastle. Yesterday afternoon a USAF C-130 being used for water drops crashed somewhere near the White Draw (Edgemont) fire. There was prairie grass fire near New Underwood the other day but they got it out quickly. So far, none of my friends have had to evacuate but have my truck fueled up and ready to roll in case/when I get a call to come help get stock out.
Part of why there are so many problems are there are huge areas of dead Ponderosa pine that are prime to burn. There is a LARGE wide spread epidemic of pine beetle that have killed them. All fireworks displays for the 4th have been canceled. Mount Rushmore now has a smoking ban except in designated areas.
It was June 29, 2002 when the Grizzly Gulch Fire started near Deadwood. That was quite a sight to see when they thought that they were going to loose the town and had a heavily armed convoy taking all the cash out of the Casinos to safety.

We have a cool front suppose to come thru. Hip Hip Hooray! I hope everyone else gets cooled down too.
Fun post Susie, thanks!
Here in central Indiana it is over 100--I was in a July 4 race & it was miserable!
One silver lining---a house painter who does interior painting has moved us up on his
list, since we need inside painting & it is too hot to do outside painting. On the down side, I have my annual rummage sale the first Sat. of July each year, but have cancelled it for now due to the heat. Now the cities are restricting watering; I do not water my yard, but I do have flower beds and 2 gardens that I water. Oh well...0 -

It has been over a hundred here too. Usually not this hot. It's hotter here than in Texas.
It's beautiful here today and is suppose to be at least thru this week! I've been outside working in my flowers today for the first time in a week or so, as it had been so hot.
Cooking out tonight!

Tux, that is a silver lining in this hot weather. Hoping your painter will get your inside painting done during this heat wave!
Hoping your flowers make it!0
