It is exactly like you say in your post Susie, Hot! That is cute how you do that! lol
Hot for 4 days in a row. Over 100 degrees. We had a bad storm Friday and electric was out in some areas. We were lucky we didn't loose electric. We have damage though to our roof and trees branches all over the yard(we live on a hill).Today it's going to reach over 100 and I believe for the next 5 days.Husband checked the forecast.I don't want to.
I feel so sorry for my husband.Where he works the temp in a area he had to work on was 140 degrees and they have him working 12 hours a days now.Not all those hours in that hot but still just a few minutes could kill you. I pray he will be OK.He has heart disease and is retiring this year.
I don't think I remember a hotter summer with the temps being in the hundreds for so long. For a week or more.

Weather in Northern California
I live in Northern California about 45 miles south of San Francisco. Today it is expected to be about 80 degrees. It will go down to approximately 56 tonite. My sympathies to all of you suffering from the heat, humidity and power outages.

However, I am in Phoenix, so this is very much expected at this time of the year. The pool is my friend and I think whoever invented A/C is a genious! I do send prayers to all who are suffering with no A/C and are not used to the blazing heat.

Shocks me about Calif. I thought that state would in the 100's.Funny how things change state to state.I'm in Ohio.
Renae.Just last night my husband said "How in the world did we make it growing up without ac". I said "we had fans and survived". Funny how it is looking back to the "good ole days".I remember my mom and dad talking about their "good ole days" too.

Hot, DRY, WINDY, Smokey
It's hotter than average (mid to high 90's). Last Mon we shattered the old record with 109 that day but that's the only 100+ day I know of. We are officially back in drought condition again (3 yrs ago our 9 yr severe drought broke). It is windy 25 - 35 mph. Smoke everywhere.
We have at least 5 fires that I know of burning in the Black Hills. 2 (Crow Peak near Spearfish and Rapid Point near Sheridan Lake and contained/controlled the last I heard. 2 are near Custer and Edgemont and one is near Newcastle. Yesterday afternoon a USAF C-130 being used for water drops crashed somewhere near the White Draw (Edgemont) fire. There was prairie grass fire near New Underwood the other day but they got it out quickly. So far, none of my friends have had to evacuate but have my truck fueled up and ready to roll in case/when I get a call to come help get stock out.
Part of why there are so many problems are there are huge areas of dead Ponderosa pine that are prime to burn. There is a LARGE wide spread epidemic of pine beetle that have killed them. All fireworks displays for the 4th have been canceled. Mount Rushmore now has a smoking ban except in designated areas.
It was June 29, 2002 when the Grizzly Gulch Fire started near Deadwood. That was quite a sight to see when they thought that they were going to loose the town and had a heavily armed convoy taking all the cash out of the Casinos to safety.

San Fran/bay area is much cooler than the rest of the state...go an hour east and it's 90 plus all summer, often over 100. The variety is one of the beautiful things about the state.
We're hot, hot, hot, here in Sacramento.0 -

California has many different climates. I was stationed at DLI (Monterey, CA) and is such nice temps - very similar to San Francisco but as Linda said go a short distance inland and it gets hot. We were at NWC China Lake (Mojave Desert) for 3 1/2 yrs when Hubby was stationed there and it would often still be 100 (+) f at midnight. It was Memorial Day weekend when we moved there. Left Whidbey Island (Puget Sound) it was 51f, we got to China Lake to a record setting heat wave with temps in the 110+. It was bad enough on us but we could get in side with the swamp cooler cooling great but all I could do for the poor horse was set sprinkles up to keep them damp and give lots of electrolytes. We all survived though thankfully.

Very HOT here also. I think it is over much of the U.S. They've even cancelled the fireworks in a lot of towns around here, which I think is smart. It is just too dry.0 -

Our forecast for the next 4 days here in KS is 103, 104, 103, 103. Our cul de sac neighborhood has had an annual Jul 4th party since before we moved here in 2005. This year we're postponing it to an Oktoberfest.
