I know I should be happy but i cant stop thinking what if
I have a new Dr ( whom I like very much) and have been having some problems, swelling to the point I have gained 10 lbs in a month and incressed pain in my joints. my labs have also been low for the last few months. so my Dr decided to do a PET scan.
the results im my Drs words are great he says its an A+ report. but there is a area of intrest and we will just keep an eye on it. after asking more about the "spot" i was told well after everything you have had this is great. ok so it is great however kind of not, my last scan showed a diff area of interest that is no longer a problem, that spot had been there all along and was getting smaller. the new spot wasnt there before.
sorry to complain just wanted to see what yall think?
thank you
Amie

You Are Not Complaining
Dear Amie,
You are not complaining. You are concerned, and rightly so. I have not been on this site for quite a while so I don't know if you are on one of the chemo drugs...such as Tamoxifen. If, "Yes", then weight gain and pain in joints are some of the side effects to any of those drugs. Tell your doctor about your joint pain and if pain increases, tell the doctor again.
The best advice I can give you is to make sure that the area of interest is closely watched. You did not say what your doctor has advised for the future, such as follow test in six months????
You are responsible for the care you receive, so make sure that the doctor continues to have an eagle eye on that area of interest.

I am on Tamoxifen, almost a year now. Im not sure what he will be doing for follow up. I see him again in 2 weeks for my normal monthly stuff lol ( sad this has become normal) I will ask him to pin point how he plans on keeping an eye on it.

What if ?
Its hard not to think of the what ifs...You have every right to question an area of interest, I sure would. Some doctors do compare our present condition (if good) with where we came from (when diagnosed), so in comparison may look great, but any area of interest would not feel great to me either. Let us know how all goes, and we'll be praying for a truely deserved A+ report!0 -
Congrats on your results!Different Ballgame said:You Are Not Complaining

Congrats on your results! It sounds like your doctor is going to keep an eye on this and continue to monitor it. You make sure he does too! Sometimes we have to be our own advocators.

Rights..
Hi Amie -- Congrats on the good report.
You have all the right to demand more. All of us deserve, by grace, the best results. So you are in your right to request it.
Don't ever feel like you are complaining. After having such a difficult time with dx, surgery, treatments, I think we would all HOPE/and pray that we would be OK. After all, it's a difficult path to walk. Ask many questions to your doctor. If you forget them during your visit, call and ask.
I know that a PET SCAN is a very sensitive test that picks up everything! It's a good test, but also raises false alarms. I know we count on our Drs. to do their best and we pay attention to all they say, because we hand them our trust, no other choice in the matter. But knowing that you had a spot before, and that it's no longer a problem, is encouraging. Would you mind telling us where the current spot is? Just wondering if a biopsy would give you more peace of mind as I know we have a constant worry after dx.
Prayers are always there for all of you. Hugs to you. And try not to over think - I know difficult, but positive minds attract positive energy, therefor better bodies. I'm sending you positive thoughts your way sister.0 -

I think a 2nd opinion is good Amie, though I know it is scary. I will be praying that you will get good news with those reports and tests.
Disneyworld, here you come!
