take a chance or not???
like i said, the zofran makes me drunk and tired. do you think i really still should take the zofran or should the aloxi and the emend do the job? (please keep in mind i have an extreme fear of vomiting so even considering not pumping myself full of extra nausea meds is a HUGE step...)
neurotically yours,
cindy

EMEND
I only had EMEND for each of my three big doses (21 day schedule), which included Taxotere and 5FU. One EMEND for each day the first three days only.
I rarely needed anything more... Unless someone kept yapping about the chemo and I thought about it too much. Anything extra, such as Zofran or Phenergan were optional and only if needed.
So, while I can only speak for myself, the EMEND worked very well for me.

be careful
Hi Cindy,
Something looks different about your picture, but I can’t quite figure it out.
I belong to the Zofran constipation club and have to say “pass me the prune juice please”. It immediately took care of my nausea, but almost needed dynamite to loosen its grip on me.
Here’s to no vomit nausea control.

I've been getting the big blasts of
Cispaten every three weeks. It took me the first two times to learn, that without all my anti-nausea meds from Tues (when I got my chemo) till the following Sunday, I'm going to be hanging on to the porcelain throne unless I take them all. I, like you, get VERY tired on Zofran, and of course the constipation is beyond believable. I also take Compazine, and did try to use that in lieu of the Zophran...but it didn't work for me.
You can try and go without it, and see how you do...the worst that will happen is you'll get sick...and you can get right back on it if you do.

doc said same results and way fewer side effects with my weekly dosage so i figured i would give it a shot with just emend. so far, so good.
ste cereal fr breakfast, had turkey/mashed potatoes/gravy/veggies during treatment, ate a banana at the grocery store 6 hours ago, some grapes when i got home, 2 small bowls of chicken noodle soup about 2 hours ago. all is quiet on the western front thus far. )0 -
