The bummer of the day...........

which happened before I went to the last rad...I had my CBC done as I was leaving the Oncologists....White cells, in the toilet...Red cells, in the toilet....Hemaglobin, in the toilet, and Platlets in the toilet. They asked (very seriously) if I felt bad, which I don't. Told me to go to the hospital infusion center both Sat and Sun for Neupegyn shots, and if I felt funny or weak, go to the Emergency room for a blood transfusion...that sounds so serious!

Oh...and they said "don't hit your head"??? I promised them that up till now, I don't go around banging my head on things (tho I've been tempted at times)....but what is this about my head???

    you feel you are fine
    Phrannie,

They asked if you felt bad, funny or week and you don’t. Like they suggested, you probably just need few shots to get your blood work in order. Heaven knows your chemo and rads diets are a bear for blood work.

Wear a helmet if you are going to bang your head, I wonder where that question came from?

    See you tomorrow,

    Matt

    what was your platelett count?
the dont hit your head comment should be taken seriously. If your plateletts are at 50k, you are ok. If they are at 20k, that is a different story. If platelets are too low, hitting your head can cause an intracranial bleed.

    My platlets were 41...so now
My platlets were 41...so now I get it....they're talking about ANY bump on the head, not the kind I might get by roller blading or something. Guess I won't be riding my horse, either.. (honest, that was not in my plans).

I gotta be careful getting into the Jeep...that's where I usually crack my knoggin.

    It's always something...
Never a dull moment, eh? Even when you feel OK, the docs tell you to watch out. At least you know what's going on and can avoid any problems by being careful.

    oh oh....
    Phrannie,

seriously... be careful and keep us updated when you can.

    Ingrid, you are TOOO funny....
I have one of those cones, so I'm not mentioning it to Greg...he's liable to like the idea too much.

Got my Nupegyn shot, and the hospital checked me all over....will be going again tomorrow, and another CBC on Monday Hospital said if I feel dizzy, weak, or puny just come in to the Emergency Room... so they're watching me closely. I don't have chemo again till the 26th, so I'm sure my bloodwork will recover before that.

    Actually, I feel pretty darn good...considering :).

Wow - First time I've heard "don't bump your head". Here's hoping you don't.

    bumps...
    Hey Phrannie,
It sounds like you have things under control, and thank god for this. All my positive thoughts are sent to you for great blood results coming. I did really laugh about the dog cone reply. Warmest regards, Katie

    No wonder...
Hey Pat ...wish I had known that sooner. I was always curious as to why my onc doctor and nurses asked "have you fallen or hit your head recently?".....

No one ever told me my blood count was low...so I guess it was not.

    Love the dog-cone comment!! LOL

    Best,

    Tim
