that you get a second opinion?

Out of the blue my PS suggested getting a second opinion to me.
I trust my PS implicitly and was a bit taken aback by this...

Your thoughts please!

    Second opinion
I wish that I had not only gone for a 2nd opinion but gotten a better doctor. We trusted my first doctor implicitly and did not look further. She was brilliant.
However, I was handled so badly I was shocked. It is too long a story. If you are seeing a doctor at a major teaching hospital who does this kind of surgery several days a week, you are probably in pretty good hands. If you are going to a local hospital, I would now not go there. My doctor got her degree from Stanford University and the number of things she neglected to do are shocking to anybody who hears.
If your doctor has suggested it, you would be really wise to do just that. Get the best referral that you can possibly find, gather actual mammograms, ultrasounds, copies of all reports for all recent procedures and make another appointment elsewhere.

    Find a plastic surgeon that
Find a plastic surgeon that is board certified. I guess I too would be a little concerned if my PS through that recommendation my way. I would make me question his talent. Take his advice and see what others say.

    Insurance permitting ...
I too, did get 2nd opinion ..and ended up with a wonderful 'Breast Cancer Specialist'.
My breast cancer specialist referred me to 2 Oncologist - and several board certified
    Plastic Surgeon's.

I then had the job of calling, making appointments and getting referrals. I then
made the decision of whom to go to.

I am curious .... why is your PS suggesting a 2nd opinion -- surgery, reconstruction,
    problems????

    Best of luck ..

I've had a number of problems with my reconstruction, but nothing that I've felt were too troubling. A few weeks ago my implant became contaminated and so was exchanged. It was at the 3 week follow up checkup that the suggestion was made.

Then just 2 days later my wound split open exposing the Alloderm. So, um, yeah, I guess you could say I've had more than a few problems with my reconstruction. But again, nothing that I've been upset over. I understand that since my skin has been radiated there are going to be issues. Maybe I'm just a high risk and this PS would rather have low risk patients?!!

    Thanks all for your input.

I guess I find it strange
I guess I find it strange that he would suggest it, but, I don't know the exact circumstances. I would seek out another opinion if I were you.

    Get 2nd opinion
I have heard that Alloderm has been linked to problems with surgeries. You might want to check it out.

As you have had issues I'm sure I'd be seeking a 2nd (orh 3rd) opinion - especially with him suggesting it. Culd be he's hoping for more ideas or to validate what he's done so far.

Don't know but would definately go for a second opinion.
