Children after breast cancer

I was wondering if anyone has gone onto have children after Breast Cancer? I had triple negative breast cancer. I finished up my last Chemo August 04, 2011. I had six weeks radiation after. So I have been fully done with everything since December 28, 2011. I saw a fertility specialist. About a week after that I got what I thought was my period back. That was the only time I have had it. Will it return for good??? I never thought I would want it back. But my oncologist gave me the ok to start trying after the summer..and Im anxious to know. I know some women never get it back. But given that Im only 34 now. He seems to think it will return. I had a bunch of blood work done & a ultrasound that showed folicals so that is good. Just curious to see if there is anyone one advise about getting pregnant and getting your period back. Thanks

    Welcome
I see you are new here and just wanted to welcome you. But as far as the period goes. I was just reading in Dr. Love's book, which was at the onco's today about that. It said that usually women who are treated for bc in there 20's, 30's and early 40's, have a good chance at getting it back. That the younger they are the better the chance is of getting it back.

I don't know personally, I just happened to read it today!

    Best to you.

    For me
it doesn't matter, I'm way past that but...I'm a nurse and I was taking care of a lady who was a survivor--fairly young 30's--and was breastfeeding as a uniboober. She was supplementing but obviously it's possible. No clue what treatment she had.

    I'm also interested in
I'm also interested in getting pregnant again! I'm 33 I finished 6 rounds of chemo in november had my mastectomy and 33 radiation treatments that ended in march. I thought that I had gone into menopause but last month I got what I think or would like to think is my period again. I had asked my oncologist about getting pregnant again and he said I should probably wait 2 years since I'm taking Tamoxifen. I don't have insurance right now to see a specialist so me and my husband are going to try it on our owN.
    GOOD LUCK!

I want to be a mom too
I was happy to see this post to see what everyone else thought. I was dx at 32, last year. I harvested my eggs. My tumor was 99% estrogen so I do have some fear about pregnancy. But I don't have any kids and would like to have one baby.

I didn't get periods for almost a year but it came back. And now its regular. Taking tamoxifen too. My doctors would like me to finish the 5 year mark. they are also doing trials on women who can be on tamox for longer than 5 years because it has proven to have better results, after treatments. I may consider this too. After a baby. But will remove all reproductive organs.

I would like to know more about your progress and what you decide to do. And how you are doing.

I want to wish you GOOD LUCK and may your dream come true. May you also be blessed with health.

    Keeps us posted please.

My friend had BC over 20
My friend had BC over 20 years ago, she had a 5cm tumor and 2 pos nodes. estrogen positive. She had tamoxifen after she had kids, she was engaged at the time of diagnosis. She had two kids after. doc said she was going through the estrogen stress test. She is alive and kicking, and now raising two teenage boys.
