a down day
i was on vacation last week with my family and had a great time.
came back to work yesterday and found out 2 of my fellow store managers were let go.
one has 40 years with the company.
the last 5 years has been stressful, alot of uncertainery with my job.
corp is headhunting and letting people go.
i am worried because i have my family to support, a disabled child to care for.
just a mess. i had congestive heart failure in march and i am doing ok but don't need this right now.
what to do keep working here or start to look for other employment?
thanks for listening had to vent.

Sorry
I'm so sorry to hear of this news - this economy is the wrost I've ever seen in my life and jobs are so hard to keep or hold on to. I'll be praying that your job is secure for you until another good job comes your way. Also, praying for better health for you.

thank you kim.
it used to be a good company but top management made a 5 billon dollar mistake this year and the people in the stores have to pay for this.
thanks

Dealing with health issues
Dealing with health issues is enough of a challenge. I hope that learning and recovery will come from the mistake and not too many more have to suffer.
Remember to always count your assets in down times... Family, loyal children, close friends, vacations, health care, ... Even during the toughest times in our lives most of us are blessed more than we seem to see. And focus on Positive! You mind will create the vision it holds; so focus on doing well in your job and prospering (not just surviving) and you will likely find that the mind is very powerful at creating those things that we truly believe (if you can believe it, than you can achieve it!)

All I can do is send prayers and any good vibes your way. I'm in the UK and our economy is bad as well, seems to be all over.
Vent away! I can certainly sympathize with you. So many of us can't find a job, and are barely hanging on. I do not have the health issues, but of course my daughter and hubby do, so it's a family affair. I retired 6 years ago when my corp moved my job function to another state. I wasn't really ready to stop working. Just figured I would keel over at my desk one day. I'd worked there for 40 years, but still, my dwindling monthly retirement is about half of my salary. Being older now, technology has kind of passed me by and let's face it, nobody wants to hire and old woman. We're no fun to chase around the desk. LOL!
Seriously though, it's even hard to get a job at any age unless you have a Bachelor's or years of experience.
I sincerely hope your company sees you as a valuable employee and you are not let go to be replaced by someone in knickers. So many big corp are famous for this, mine included.
Take Care,

G'day Bruce
One of the sad things about surviving ca is that we get no dispensations from life. It plows on regardless and we find situations that were we healthy would only be of nuisance value. I find every day problems like keeping a roof over my head far more stressful than health issues. You have my sympathy and best wishes that things go your way, Ron.0 -
these are such rough times
Hold on to your job because it is so difficult out there right now. Pray that things get better all around. I get so upset when I see all the hardships out there to such good people. Patience is so important but so hard. I'm praying for you and your family. Jeff0 -
I'm so sorry you've got this
I'm so sorry you've got this extra stress to deal with. As someone else said, CA patients get no dispensation from life. There ought to be some sort of cosmic karma that exempts us from life issues. I wish I had an answer for your job situation. They say the best time to look for a job is when you have one, but jobs are so scarce. Perhaps now is the time to be patient, do some quiet networking, and keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities - but without doing a full-blow search. Just my two cents...0 -

40 and 40K
This whole economy and the way it is stressing everyone is just horrible. Years ago there was an adage that when one reached 40 years of age and or $40K meant a career change (not because one wanted to). If I was you I would start the job search process just in case. So sorry that you have to face this at this time. Hugs...0 -

Don't be silly, Wolfen. Older women are more to chase around the desk because they can't run so fast and are easier to catch!0
