Thank you Bredna
I'm back from the hospital today. The surgery went well and the recovery went as expected so I was released today and I'm home. The preliminary pathology report says that the nodule is a metastisis of the colon cancer but I will have to wait until Tuesday or Wendesday for the official pathology report to be completed. If the prelimnary report holds up I will be stage IV instead of stage III. The good news is that the nearby lymph nodes and surrounding lung tissue looked clear and hopefully this was a lone tumor that is now extracted. Liver, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, and pancreas appear normal. So if I'm lucky the colon resection and lung wedge resection have removed the cancer and hopefully the upcoming chemo will kill off any loan cancer cells. I'm in the process of setting up an appointment with the University of Michigan Cancer Center and expect I'll see them early next week. I have my chemo port installed now as well and I've been told I should be healed enough to start chemo in one to two weeks. The pain seems to be controlled with vicoden and I now need to get some sleep as I didn't sleep much in the hospital.
Thank you all for your positive energy and prayers!
Sincerely,
Phil0 -

Phil- So glad things went well for you! Hope you are feeling better soon. My rectal surgery and liver resection is scheduled for June 19th, I just want to get it over with, doc said 7 - 10 days in hospital.
Good luck with chemo, sounds like you will do great

Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Surprised that you are back home so early - it's surprising how they get you in and out anymore. Wishing you the speedy recovery and that chemo treatments go well for you.

That all sounds like good news! I am glad things went smoothly and you are home so soon. Get some sleep, no one sleeps in the hospital. One day at a time is the way to take it.
GOD's blessings to you!

God Bless everyone. Thank you for the well wishes.
I did get some sleep last night. But I think I'm running a fevor today and I'm feeling some chills. Also, I think the vicodin is causing some constipation and I tried to lay off the vicodin to see if I could go. Now I'm feeling a lot of pain. I'm starting to wheeze a bit when I breath deep. I'm still doing the deep breathing exercises they told me to do which is supposed to clear my lungs. I'm forcing myself to cough too which, even though it hurts, I know this too clears my lungs. I think they let me go home from the hospital a day or two earlier than they should have. I'll probably call the doctor tomorrow morning if I'm not feeling any better. My brother went to buy a thermomitor so we can see if I am actually running a fevor or not. Everyone else is gone to my step-son's baseball game.0 -

SePhil-Taking the stool softeners w/pain meds will help u tremendously. You don't need constipation problems...The deep breathing exercise are important for healing and your oxygen sats and pain meds will help if it hurts to breath. I had a lower lung lobectomy and thorocotomy so the right lung tumors could be wedged.
Your surgeries were closer than mine so you have to take it hour by hour....it will get better.
Are you walking? That is important to-even if you have to rest alot.
You have had major assaults to your body!
I was on Norco not vicodin...
If you have a fever best to contact your Dr.
I have been somewhat homenound since Feb., but it gets better e/day. Its hard to adjust when we all were
going about b4 our diagnosis
I had chemo on Fri. for mop-up cells....0 -

I am doing the breathing exercises. I was running a 99.1 temp, but the discharge papers say to call if over 101 temp. I'm feeling better since having coughed up some flem. And I'm taking the pain medicine after having been able to go to the bathroom. I will get the stool softener - I think this will help.0 -

I will discuss with the doc. I had a good night last night and felt like I got a rock solid night's sleep. And it sure makes a difference. And this morning is a glorious day. The full moon last night / this morning was amazing. The sun rise was beautiful. The flowers were all blooming -- I think they were smiling at me as I watered them! Breakfast was delicious. And "I feel good - da da da da da da. Like I knew that I would."
:-)
Big smiles to everyone!0 -
