Good News

Hello Everyone,
Some of you will not know me it has been some time since I have posted. I apologize for not keeping up but life has gotten in the way of my computer time (more about that later) back to the good news.
John had his first CT Scan (Chest, Abd. & Pelvis) and all clear NED!
I was waiting to post until we officially spoke with his physician but… we made an appointment and it was rescheduled three times the last time we showed up for appointment and doctor was not there, woops!
Well as some of you know I work in Medical Imaging so I knew the results of the CT exam.
The Radiologist discussed the case with me the same day it was performed.
What a luxury to not have to wait for several days or weeks for results.
John's weight has leveled off at about 152LBS but considering that three weeks post-op his weight was 135LBS.
I think he is doing great and his weight is 4 LBS more than the day he was diagnosed (May 17, 2011).
John still has to watch quantities at one time seems like if he takes one bite too many or eats too fast he gets abdominal pain. He is working out at the gym most everyday and most days’ he feels very good. He still complains of fatigue but that is getting better too.
I do try to read post here but I just have had very little time lately. I have a new position at work (promotion) but a much longer commute.
My Mom fell a while back and after work I go over her house help her get a meal, prepare meals for the next day (breakfast, lunch) do some light housekeeping etc. by the time I get home it is sometimes 8 or 9 PM. Well enough of my whining, I'm not complaining I know how lucky we are that so far so good for John and my Mom!
In September John will have a scope (at the one year surgery mark).
I hope this gives some encouragement to those that are just starting this journey.
I would not have survived this past year without the support of the people on this board.
Love to you all

    Great to hear from you
    Hi Erica:

I was so really glad to see your post, and especially to hear that John is doing well and, most of all, that he’s NED! Yahoo to that!! I had my MIE a couple of weeks after John’s so I had my 6 month scan about the same time he did, and I’ve been really wondering how he and you are doing. It’s sometimes unsettling when “regulars” disappear from the board, so your news is a big relief – I’m sure to lots of us. Unfortunately, not everyone from the Class of 2011 has been as lucky, but sadly, that’s the nature of the beast. :-(

Take care of both of you.

    FEC,
    Bob

    Congratulations on the NED.
Congratulations on the NED. For a cancer patient, this is muscic to the ears.
We can get too busy, and not take the time to enjoy life. Be careful and relax and enjoy the precious moments you do have.
I've been in your shoes, caring for my parents, working and taking care of my own household. It can be exhausting. You're not complaining, it's telling us where you're at right now and it sounds like things are going very well! Congratulations on the new promotion!

    Thanks for the update, Sandra

    Congratulations!!!!!!
    Erica,

It is wonderful to hear that John is doing so well. How fortunate you are that you have access to the results so quickly. I think half the challenge of scanxiety is the "wait for the results". It sounds like John has found his "new normal" and is moving on. That is great!!!
