Congratulations in advance dear Gail!tootsie1 said:weekend
Tomorrow I'm going to a scrapbooking session to make a paper bag scrapbook. It's for our minister (and my boss and good friend), who is going to a new church in a few weeks.
After that, Bill and I are meeting Rachel and the grandchildren for some shopping and lunch downtown.
On Sunday, I am celebrating my birthday!
*hugs*
Gail
Hope you celebrate it for many many years my friend!
Big hug to you!0 -
Hi Ray , you got an excellent plan ahead !Doc_Hawk said:Road Trips
I'm going kickstand up tomorrow at 8:30 to head up to Idaho Falls for a beer fest. I'll be over nighting with a bunch of other people and then headed back home on Sunday. Then, Monday morning me and the fur-kid are going to get picked up at 9 to go to a fishing retreat for men with cancer sponsored by Reelrecovery.org at a luxury lodge, all expenses paid. I just wish my dad could go, he probably needs a get away more than I do.
Have a great weekend, all! I'll check in again on Sunday evening!
Doc/Ray
Enjoy it my friend!0 -

Here in the UK it is a four day weekend to celebrate60 years reign by the Queen. There is a huge flotilla of boats due to go down teh Thames and will be off to mother in law's near London for the traditional street party to mark the occasion (not really a royalist but any excuse for a party seems good).
Finish the weekend with a cocktail of chemo due to be infused Tuesday- our lives are really all a mad mix of life and cancer. Getting the balance right is the challenge!

I don't really like to post "doom & gloom" here but you are my family so hope you will understand. I decided not to have a yard sale because it's so hot here now. Still waiting to hear back about my refinance(trying to survive).
Have also been trying to sustain my son until he could find a job. Well, he started a new job today. He called at 5:30 this morning. His little 23 year old dog has been declining for the past couple of months. She had been in no pain, but was deaf, blind, and no longer able to get around. He hand fed her every day and carried her outside for the bathroom. He was up all night with her as she started to yelp. He decided to go on to the job at 7. He went home on lunch break to check on her and she had passed away not long before he got home. He was devastated as she had been all alone at the time. So, he went back to the job and explained the circumstances. They appeared to be understanding. Meanwhile, I located a vet that would take care of the dog, so we met him there and I paid the proper fees.(Thank you, Discover Card) He just didn't have the heart to have her put down before this, as she was receptive to his touch and caring for her needs, and was not in any pain.
Spoke to JBG today. She is also having a lot of financial difficulty and wanted some "motherly" advice. So far, I'm batting zero on that score, but I offered my opinion. She will be having a ct scan on Tuesday, so please everyone, send good vibes, prayers for that. We'll know if this regimen of Xeloda/Avastin is still holding the lung tumors and possible new liver tumor at bay.
Hubby is still having vitreous hemorrhaging in right eye and is now going blind in that eye. Have been to 5 opthamologists/retina specialists with no cause found. None feel that it is diabetes related.
So, that is my weekend so far. Pretty crappy and still one day left. I try to have a positive outlook, especially as I watch all of you weather so many storms, but sometimes it is very hard. I just wish my family would get a "small" break. Also wish I'd been born rich instead of beautiful.LOL

Just thanks and hugs from here in the oven. Didn't mean to ruin the weekend post as it's supposed to be a fun post. Just having a really down weekend, but will pull up my bootstraps and forge ahead.

My dear, you have not ruined the post by sharing your feelings.
Yes, it is always nice to see what fun folks can dream up for the weekend. However, it is not always an up time for everyone.
A big part of our participation here is to give and receive support, and this was just time when you needed rather than being the giver.
I pray that your and JBG's financial situations may have a good outcome. It seems more and more folks with medical issues are finding themselves in this boat.
Hugs and love to you and all the family,
