Yum!
It's my family's go to broth. Some in my freezer now. I use it when I make soup and brown rice (instead of water). The recipe came via e-mail the week that water hurt. I could not stand to be in the kitchen during treatment, the broth simmering gve me an appetite and went down like silk. Thanks to sis for making it up.0 -

of many dishes in my future, soups, rice, stews...so many things can be done with it...and it does go down like silk...makes me wonder why I can taste it all the way from first bite to last, but can't do that with anything else...

I've been looking at that recipe
Did you taste the onions in it? I ask because my husband has a strong aversion to onions right now. I want to make him something tasty, but if he notices onions, he won't go near it. If I leave out the onions, will it still be good? He's having trouble eating because nothing tastes good.0 -

After not eating anything for the past week and a half I think I would enjoy just about anything. It looks good maybe I can get the wife to make it a pore it down the P-tube and just put a drop or two on my tongue.
Thanks for the advice
Hondo
I can't tell what I'm tasting exactly....it just a hearty broth, that doesn't lose taste as you eat it. I think you could leave the onions out and still have that hearty broth, there's so many other veggies in it. I think it's the allspice that gives it part of the flavor...but it's not like that's what you're tasting.
Hondo, it will certainly go down a P-tube, it's not thick or anything...she strained all the veggies out instead of putting them thru a seive (she didn't have one)....so I just have the broth. She used all organic veggies to make it, as that's all she buys for her family.
It really does glide down like silk, doesn't sting at all, and makes you feel warm from the inside out.

Rebecca Katz has really studied about food and what helps the cancer patient. I got to see her in the fall and she signed my cookbooks.0 -

Are you able to swallow at all? It is a broth. If you can't find the seaweed at your market, the broth still tastes good. My daughter and my sister have found it at Whole Foods.0 -

if you taste the onion. I would imagine that you could leave it out. So manyt good veggies go into the broth. I loved onion and garlic in anything as I recovered, No spices though.0 -

I'm going to make it and leave out the onions. It's worth a shot, he's so dejected from losing taste that I'm desperate to find something that tastes good to him.0 -

Definately going to give this a try. What i am finding is that even with taste gone, there are some natual taste that stays. My guess is some veggies in this is giving their natural taste that we can recognize.

it's not high in calorie, but it is high in nutrients.....and like I said, you can taste it from the first sip to the last. I've been sipping it everyday, it's so good (and you know how fast things can change....taste it one day, can't the next...but so far this hasn't changed.

the whole food, peel and all. The only thing she didn't do was seive it, she poured it thru a strainer, so all I have is the broth itself.

I strain my broth also. When I heard Rebecca Katz people asked about the veggies, she said that all the goodness was cooked out, only good for the compost now!0 -

I've got some simmering on the stove right now. I hope he likes it!
Mine just got done....i am having it right now....it taste's great..given that we cannot taste anything else,,,this is for sure a change....and a ton of goodness in it.
We also made the big pot so i will have atleast two weeks of supply.
We peeled the onions but none of the other veggies. Washed them up, cut them into big chunks and put it in pot and let it simmer like the recipe says.
