So you broke a RAD machine,
I knew you were strong but thats a 1st. LOL Im so proud of you P, although I feel I have fallen so far behind in this cancer treatment. One Chemo, and most of the folks that came on about my time are well thru their procedure of RADS and Chemo. So I do not blame you for wanting to just get it done. I know I do but still will have to take it ODAAT.0 -
Almost there
P,
I too had a malfunction, the computer had a hiccup and my appointment was canceled (and I already took my Lorazepam). Next thing they called and rebooked me for an hour later. Yikes and Yeah! I was so conditioned to doing everything in just my special order, but it worked fine.
So happy you are reaching the single digits.
Bless you,
Matt0 -
You're right Mr. Ditto.........
It's ODAAT...and that includes mechanical failure....LOL. Just hoping they don't have to ship parts from back east or something. Also, was thinking....what about the person who was on the table when it broke...LOL. Do they count 1/2 treatments?
Hope you're feeling better today!!

...but the company that made the machine is in Palo Alto so they can get parts on the same day. My appointment was never cancelled, just delayed.
They'll just tack the missed day onto the end, I expect, unless they decide to double up one day like they did with me (today). :-)0 -
If they doubled me up I'd be delighted......Laralyn said:It's happened to me a couple times too...

I'm already there, my amifostine is already loaded into my body...to kill two times with one throw would be great!

as it seems quite common and will have no negative impact on your treatment protocol/outcome. It broke so often with mine that they just kept the repair guy on site for several weeks. It was dishearting to me at the time, but in the big scheme of things rather insignificant to anyone but me. They finally figured out it was my ratface shining through the mask, but you are much to beautiful for that to happen. Must be a rat in there somewhere, whats the person before you look like?0 -

the "rat" must come in the morning, since they called me at 11:00...ha! I made good use of my day....went to the grocery store..ALONE ....walked the dog, and took a long nap unaided by Antivan .

Twice this happened to me, and both times as somewhat welcome news. Not a big concern, P51, as far as effect on treatment. Was probably a factor in my only getting 31 full rads, then 3 partials at the end, too. Do hope you're back at it tomorrow, though, because all of us "love them rads!" Yikes!
And listen- Ratface's reason for his breaking down is one thing, but you're not a Cub fan. are you? Talk around the RCC in 09 was that a Cub fan was getting tx, and everybody in the world knows about the Chicago Cubs...I am so guilty! And, I'm thinking Ratface, who lives in Chicagoland...

I took to bringing a small goat with me but to no avail as the machine kept breaking, They(Cubs) have won their last three though, so perhaps Phrannie's problems are over? If you see any size goat at the facility, run the other way.0 -
They just called...and the rad machine
is still not working...I may end up with this whole week off if they had to order parts...
they said they'd be calling tomorrow, too...This is giving my neck a rest, it's gotten crusty in spots...and my soft palate (which is the only hurtie place in my mouth).

I'll finish radiation therapy on June 15. Chances are we'll celebrate together. Enjoy your break (no pun intended) and thanks for always keeping an eye on me!

I was so fixated on my "final rad day" that was marked on my calendar, I was truly bummed when my machine had a time out, and I had to get time tacked onto the end. Glad it's not a horrible thing for you.0 -

Hey Phrannie,
I always brought along baling wire and duct tape (along with some cehwing gum and a ball-peen hammer). I can fix anything with those. Actually the electricity went out while I was on the table one time. The tech said the machine was on emergency generator so they told me to hold tight and they would get me going. They did but it was an extra 15 minutes on the torture....I mean rad table. Worst thing was AC went out in the building due to electric going out. I was one sweaty & stinky dude by the time that session was over.
Getting close Phrannie!! I don't post much, but I'm still following all the ones going thru treatment - ms sarge, ditto, meagan, laralyn, dre, tuffenuff (sorry if I missed any). Thinking about you guys all the time and wishing you a speedy recovery!!!
Positive thoughts!!

WD-40? You could always hire UPS to make a gift package delivery to them- complete with WS-40 and duct tape and two old D batteries- their reaction might be one for the scrapbook! Hoping you are appreciating the time-off, P51.

Glad they got that machine up and running for you today as we really needed to see you in the single digits this week! This time next week you will be facing your last weekend going through rads!!! Awesome realization isn't it?!?!0 -

at 11:30, just when I was heading out the door for the amifostine, the radiation onc called back, and they were broke down again....so I'm still stuck at 10 treatments left .
They'll have the whole weekend to get this thing up and running...just disappointed that now I have two FULL weeks of rads still to do.
