If your hospital, cancer cener, or what-ever has a colorectal support group, I would encouragee you to join it. I didn"t discover this group untill I was NED two years out, Those newly dxed with colon cancer need to hear our stories. They still think cancer is a death
Projection. By meeting with them and describing their future, they can realize that cancer can be beat--no matter how rocky the road.
Join a group and help our fellow cancerites!!!!!

I have yet to find a colon cancer support group but the group I do attend with has a couple people with our disease. It is helpful to see people living with cancer and having camaradamie. There is a lot to learn and share in these groups and to know you are not alone.
Our cancer wellness has Dr. presentations, a culinary evening featuring foods to fight cancer, counseling and exercise/healing programs. It helps to put the diagnosis in perspective and keep it in positive.
We recently had a cancer walk to raise money for the programs.
I agree -join a group -knowledge is power to help fight this disease.....and help newly diagnosed.0 -

Support groups
The support groups around here all meet in the early evenings. By that time of day, I'm just worn out and don't have the energy to go anywhere. All I do is lay in bed and watch TV and the only place I feel like going is to the bathroom, and that will get put off until it's almost too late.0 -
Agreed
While being on this site is helpful for myself as well as others, face to face is great too if you can swing it. I went to Gilda's Club for a while as well as a group at a hospital. I believe STRONGLY that all of us have a responsibility to help others who are in a similar situation.
Many who get through this don't look back and stop coming here. Of course everyone can do what they want, but I believe their presence would help others who are fighting cancer. Some want to forget cancer ever happened, there's no way I could do that. It happened. If my experience can help others then I feel I need to remain accessible to help others...
It's just how I am I supposed...0
