Update on feeling rough ....

Hey all ....just wanted to give a quick update on the "feeling rough" post I did last week (I think it was last week).

I was in the ER yesterday (Saturday) with a pretty ugly peg tube infection ...just seem to explode over a 2 day period....

..anyway... the ER doctor called my docs in Boise and he / they decided to take it out....my onc had wanted to take it out last visit ...but I just wanted to get home and said let's just schedule another day ...

ER doc said many of the things I was experiencing could be related to the infected area around the peg tube ...and I must say...today no headach and I don't seem to ache in all my joints :)

My ear canal is still quite sore on the same side of the neck that my lymph node was affected, but my back tooth on that side is hurting quite a bit so I am thinking I might have my first cavity realted to rads...oh darn. :) And to think, before my cancer dx I never had a surgery, a broken bone or even a cavity!!! :)

Thanks for all who responded and for those who sent the pm's ...

Tim

    Glad You're Improving
    Peg tube infection - wow.

It's wild that you never even had a cavity before cancer diagnosis. Toothaches can be a special kind of pain - hope yours is resolved soon.

    Hi Tim
I hate when things like that happen but as they say ops they do, I am just glad the ER doctor was able to get you feeling better. I just got my Peg Tube put in 6 years after my last treatment because I am no longer able to swallow food. So for me the P tube is a new experience and will more than likely be there the rest of my life. I am still in the hospital on 14 days of antibiotic to kill the Lung infection or pneumonia as they call it because of the aspiration problem. But hay God is still so good in slowing me down some to be able to write new sermons about His love for his children. God bless you my friend and visit me at www.restoringgodstruth.com hope to see you there and please leave me a comment

    Keeping you in prayer

Hate you are going through this but FYI every since I got my tube I have slowly gotten better every day. I am now 12 months since my last pneumonia. Before this I was gettng 3-4 a year and that was taking it's toll on me.

    Get better and get home.

You know the old saying, sometimes it has to get worse before it can get better, I look for better days ahead my friend.

    Thanks

    Holy Moly!!
A PEG tube infection so late in the game....WOW. It might not be responsible for all the "roughness" you've felt in the last couple of weeks, but I'll bet in general, you'll start feeling better...and the other rough things will become apparent that they are separate from the infection (like your tooth...and yes a "special" type of pain come with a tooth ache). By the way...the tooth, the ear canal and the node can all be related. An infected tooth can affect a person in many ways...earaches, lymph nodes...they drain in so many weird and strange ways. They take the path of least resistance...I am an expert on abcessed teeth......very painful in oh so many ways. The antibiotics for your PEG may hit the tooth, too bringing some relief.

Sending prayers that you start feeling better, now......and you get to a dentist quick!!

    infection
Tim, Happy the ER doctor was able to solve your problems. Lucky for Jim he has had a Peg since June 2011 and no infection. His did come out once. The ER doctor had a hard time getting a new one in. Aparently the stomack hole closes real fast so if yours ever comes out be sure to get to ER fast!

    PEG Tube, friend or foe
    Hi Tim,

The PEG tube started out as my nemesis. The first tube started out well, but quickly developed into a total mess. Finally, a new tube was installed and all was well in cancer land again. Anyway, I identify with problems brought on by the tube.

    Good luck from this point.

    Keeping the faith,

    Matt
