Nasopharynx Cancer and Diet

Hello everyone!

I'm new here. I have NPC and found this forum through google. I'm hoping to connect with others who have NPC. I was diagnosed about 7.5 years ago when I was 18. I am an Asian female born in Canada and grew up in Canada. The disease has spread from my nasal cavity to the lymph nodes in my neck and eventually spread into my lungs. After the radiation and initial chemo treatments it's currently only in my lungs. I have been through radiation 33 times as well as chemo more times than I can actually remember. The longest break I've gotten from chemo was about 14 months. I've actually been on chemo for the last 7 months straight and I'm still on it... I started a new drug recently because the one's I was taking before are no longer effective.

I'm wondering if anyone has changed their diet significantly over the years? I have had many people tell me different things like only eat organics, don't eat anything with sugar, don't eat beef or don't eat chicken or that I need to become a vegetarian. I have tried at various times to give up some of these things but I didn't feel like there was any real benefit from doing it. It's difficult for me because after having given up so many things over the years, food is actually one of the things I still find very enjoyable.

Hello, I was diagnosed with NPC about a year ago. I am done with treatment and I was advised to eat lots of veggies and fruits. I no longer have any appetites for meat but I do attempt to eat some fish and chicken.

    Like you my husband's tongue
Like you my husband's tongue cancer is gone but now is in his lungs. He cannot have anymore chemo and I am not sure he would anyway. We have heard a lot of good things about the Hallelujha Diet and there are many testimonies of cancer cured on their website so we are trying the diet. It sure can't hurt.

When I first finished my initial treatment of chemo and radiation it took about 2.5 years to regain my tastes. For a long time I did not want to eat because I could not taste anything or everything tasted bland or like metal. I also could not eat anything that was tart, acidic, sweet or spicy. But you should know it does get better with time. I can eat almost anything I want now but tart and acidic foods still bother me so I avoid things like grapes and apples. It's weird though I can eat them if they are in an other form like apple pie or grape juice. So maybe if you try eating things that are cooked differently than how you normally eat them you might have more of an appetite for them?

I am sorry to hear that your husband can no longer take treatment. I am a bit afraid of what I will do when I reach that point. I have looked into natural treatment options but it's so hard to decide which is the best to try and when to start trying them. I mean, at what point do you say "Ok, no more chemo. I'm just going to try something that's not scientifically proven to work and just pray for the best."? I am glad to hear that you have found something to try though. I looked it up and it sounds like a good healthy diet. I think I will try to incorporate more raw vegetables into my diet. Best of luck to you and your husband. Stay strong!

    Diet!
    Hi Clim,
There are many "Cancer Diets" out there, most are raw organic fruit & veg and juice.
No meat, dairy, white flour, refined sugar ( white death) . There is a very, very
Alternative web site called "cancertutor.com" which lists every concievable alternative
Treatment options and diet. If time is not on your side it says go strait to the protocols
Mentioned. If time is on your side then you should build your immue system first.
As Tim mentioned thats where I come in because I take one of the best, if not the
Best immune boosting natural products out there. Please contact me through CSN email
And i can send you some info like as I have done to some on the board.

    God bless
    Tonsil dad,

    Hi Dan,

Thanks. I am not really looking for a product to try. I was just mainly wondering if anyone had changed their normal diet and cut things out or became vegan and found that it helped significantly.

    Cheers,

    Hi clim
I am here with you and been there 3 times myself, I am now a ten year survivor of NPC. And yes I do believe diet plays a big part in how your body fights back and helps you keep the cancer from coming back. I suffer now from all the many side effects of the treatment but I am alive and thanks God everyday for His blessings.

If you like click on my name, my e-mail address is there.

God bless and keep you while in his workshop

I did start with a daily supper meal of a chef-style salad a couple years ago, and continues, still. I have become addicted to McDonald's southwest salad (grilled chicken). I have also become a large fan of Oatmeal with ice cream as an alternative to milk, and usually eat just before going to bed. Breakfast is always two Ensures, after a cup of coffee. And, yes, all of this is different than my eats before C.
