Thanks so much for all the helpful replies. I will be ordering xylimelts and some lemon drops too.

Marty, my doc said they could give me something after the treatment.

Apparantely radiation on thorat kills both the major salivery glands. Ones on the cheek will be spared maybe 30%, so i am looking at a lifetime of dry mouth.

Right now i am having problem making a conversation while walking, looks like xylimelts will help in that.

keep in mind the lemon drops have lots of sugar that is not good for the teeth.

    keep those teeth clean

AS Saliva Orthana, effective relief for dry mouth
Hi, here in the UK we have AS Saliva Orthana which is formed from a naturally occurring mucin, its possibly the closest thing to human saliva available . . . . Does any one know if it is available in America?

    AS Saliva Orthana.
I just ordered two spray bottles from the UK, as a Brit living in the US and
having bad dry mouth from treatment I'll give it a try. It cost me £16.50
inc shipping, I will try anything as my mouth feels like someone keeps
    shovelling sand in it.......lol

    God bless
    Tonsil dad,

    Dan.

Hi Phrannie, no you don't need a script. I googled the product and the first
one ASPHARMA.CO.UK click on that - then on products. I bought two small
sprays which is around $30 with shipping, just in case its like all the rest.

Anyway nice to here you are doing well and nearing the end ( of treatment)
Only positive thoughts & plenty of faith.

    God bless
    Tonsil dad,

    Dan.

    AS Saliva Orthana
Hi, Ive posted this on another thread but would like to pass this on to everyone I can.

One quick tip, DONT just spray onto your tongue or to the back of your throat as the product will quickly be swallowed and the effect lost.

Spray inside both of your cheeks, and UNDER your tongue. This will replicate the action of your own salivary glands and create a coating over your tongue, cheeks, teeth and palate offering longer relief.

I really hope this works for you all, it certainly made a difference to my best friend.

Please share this tip on other threads where applicable or maybe I should start a new thread headed 'Spray It Right?!'

    Take care all

    Worked for me
    Hi Sam,

I’ve tried the Biotene and Xylitol sprays and they help along with a pool full of water. Remember lots of water doesn’t hurt (but don’t drown yourself). For me, going to bed at night, with the quest for as long a sleep as I could, I always started it off with 5 or 10 mls. of “Magic Mouth Wash”. The mouth wash calmed everything down for at least an hour and by then I was fast asleep. Normally, it was I had to go to the bathroom (pool full of water) that would cause me to wake up. Then, another swish of mouth wash and asleep I go.

You just have to experiment and see what works best for you. At least with CSN you can cover ground fast on new ideas.

    Best of luck,

    Matt
