Peg tube infection

Andy and I are suspicious that he has an infection. Some redness, some puss. Blister, and a low grade fever. Anybody have these symptoms? Seeing a gastro doc on Friday. Scared about removal, as well!!

Thanks for input,
Robin

    possible infection
Hi Robin, I just had my PEG removed in early April after 15 months of use. I would occasionally have some oozing out of the hole, sometimes some itching, but no blisters or fever. I would say keep the area as clean as possible until Friday. If they are planning to remove the tube, the will most likely just grab it and pull. It will hurt a bit, but it's over quick. the area was a little sore for about 24 hours but not too bad. Good Luck and hope it's not infected.

    Hi Robin ....
...no doctor here but I do still have my feeding tube and I would bet for sure it is infected based on your description .....I realize today is Thursday (well now it is) ...but if his fever gets above 101' you need to go in and get a antibiotic....arndog is having an infection that spread to his blood and heart ....I'm not trying to scare ...but if you have all you described...that's an infection and in our state of weakened immune waiting one day is just not a good idea in my very humble opinion ...get the meds which will take no time and then keep your appt Friday ...but get the meds going to fight the infection ... :)

    Best to you ...

    Robin-
What Tim said. Redness and especially puss- signs of infection, and needs Dr attention.

    Hi Robin
I just got my P tube put in 2 days ago, all very new to me, but was told to watch against infection. Call your doctor and don’t wait.
