alt doc worried about 3 point risepete43lost_at_sea said:vegan alternative Doctor promised results to lower cea
I am new to this as well , let's share our vegan tips and tricks.
Get 24 hours urine results today. They are important focusing on all sufficiencies.
said I am yours for 3 months, my focus is the diet, it's detailed,
Focus on legumes, vegetables and then nuts and seeds.
B12 is essential, will ask doctors, I used to get it meat now I get it sub lingually.
Can you post issues for colorectal and b12.
My focus over next 2 months is gaining muscle.
Hugs,
Pete
Ps doing green smoothies, juicing. Got organic kale yesterday.
Pps praying like he'll something works, I hope with a large H that something gets my cea down. The miracle of our biology.
He said onc about small rise, he wants a fall like the earlier month which had 4 vit c per month.
So adding back vit c and some my original supplements to the vegan healthy lifestyle.
My urea and creatinin is good considering vegan diet.
Meditating to find peace given conflicting opinions of alt doctors
Hugs,
Pete
Ps started reading clean ,green and lean by Walter Clinton. He wad the keynote speaker at the us seminar I went to.
I cannot put it down0 -

its nice to hear from other vegetarians , not to many on this board.
I am new to the vegan life, its getting easier day by day.

I am not going completely vegetarian, but I never have eaten much meat. A good burger now & then about all I eat. They say if it had a mother dont eat it. There is a group of people who live this life style they are what is called a blue group. They Live to be close to 100, fruits, vegtable, nuts, beans etc. Pretty rigid.0 -

Hi, Pete... See if you can get a hold of the documentary "Forks Over Knives." My doctor recomended I watch it and I was an instant Vegan. Its not easy in the beginning but once you figure out what you can and cannot eat, it becomes much easier. I feel good, I feel "lighter" if that makes sense and I do not miss any of my old favorite foods.
Its not easy but it is worth it. A lot of people confuse being a vegetarian with being vegan. Vegan is much more strict - no animal products at all.
Good luck, my Vegan friend!0 -

I am trying to be mostly vegan. Organic eggs once a week and organic meat once every 6 to 8 weeks. Other than that strict vegan diet. I have been feeling weak and dizzy lately. I am going to start taking B-12. Hopefully that will help. Dont know if the diet or the chemo is causing it. Maybe both.

Just got 24 hour urine and bloods back.
All good , liver enzymes ast, get, alg improved, zinc crashed, vit d crashed.
Cancer screws with our digestion enzymes, basically we need tests and advice about results.
So back to 5000 UI vit d, to get levels at 150.
Zinc trying liquids not picolinate form. I suspect my heavy metals are blocking zinc absorption or some lingering gut issues around stomach acid or digestive enzymes.
Have spent my time praying fr peace of mind and meditation than researching, heaps u want to learn, but not enough hours to prepare foods, juices, smoothies, teas and care for kids. The house well, bomb site is what I think.
Jeff, I say get tested, it's hard to do the vegan thing well, given cancer maybe ffffcking our metabolism.
My strategy is to back of tests until the are all perfect, so it's monthly for me until further notice.
I am more interested in my vitd and zinc and crp and urea than cea.
But that's me.
Hugs,
Pete

Loved your initial post on this thread and am learning to be able to make sense of your writings- as a Kiwi I always found Australians a little hard to understand! Good news about your tests and general well being.
I am interested in how you involve your family in much of what you do and clearly they are very supportive and engaged with the lifestyle you live. I have two young children (4 and 7) and struggle to know how much to tell them and involve them in aspects of my illness and its management. In truth I try to keep them away from it as much as possible- especially any aspects that are uncertain eg prognosis. I would be interested to hear more of how you manage this part of your life and I think having this illness whilst in this stage of life with young children is a particular challenge.

4 and 7, what great ages, I say love them intensely as much as I fight to survive.
My boy 6 plays with my enema kit, it's fair as I use his potty. He is 6 going on 21.
They no about all aspects of cancer, life death, treatments, they are off all milk, wheat and sugar. We all are.
The kids and wife love me more passionately as my presince is not guaranteed.
Wife and I going on 5 day vegan cancer retreat in Victoria mountains, kids getting 6 Days off School and we aredoing 3000 km round trip adventure. Kids staying with cousins in Melbourne, while wife and I get couple time.
Got to have lots of fun on journey, might as well get some positives out of cancer.
The families health and fitness is much better since diagnosis.
The vegan thing may help me beat this.it cannot hurt.
No guarantees.

UPDATED protein problems and inflammation
So i got the results of stools samples analysis, full bloods and 24 urines.
Many pieces of the vegan/cancer puzzle are falling into place and just at this point the picture i see is not as good as i would have hoped.
It seems going away camping/going on the misty mountains retreat cost me a few kilograms of muscle. Despite the healthy foods and exercise. if you don't have the digestive enzymes you don't get protein broken into amino acids and then into your blood supply
i was doing a similar juice and protein powder in a shake.
i slackened off as i hoped the vegan diet would compensate, trying to get the protein from whole foods.
it turns out my muscle levels have halved in the last 4 months despite weight training.
thats measured by creatinin levels.
given that i have been eating enough protein, the question is why i have not been absorbing it ? and why therefore my body had to go chasing it down from the next most accessible form muscle.
well i got an interesting test result from 6 weeks ago yesterday that said lipase the digestive enzyme responsible from protein absorption in my stools is low, is dangersously low. the test was from doctors data, called parasitology x 3 and a few others.
i now qualify for creon which is an enterically coated digestive enzyme with lipase in it. i guess i am flagging this as something to check.
just thought i would mention it, as i was taking the protein powder but not taking the enzyme with it. if its not an issue for you then don't worry, but if it is, then ask your doctor about digestive enzyme support.
lipase being difficient in cancer and pancreatic distress is associated.
hence the corresponding muscle wasting. we can fight this with good diet and enzymes.
also keep in mind that a good supply of protein is essential for good detox from heavy metals, drugs like chemo, other toxins being ingested or stored. its used in stage 2 or 3 of the liver detox process.
i am erring on the side of excess enzymes as no side effects by going over, but significant issues going under with digestive enzymes and then running into the old muscle catabolism cycle.
i hope this makes some sense. it does to me, alas. the benefit of having all these tests, and lots of doctors to discuss them with means i get answers and explanations with real insight based on previous experience. I ordered most of these tests myself, of which i am proud as they backup my intuition about aspects of my digestion and metabolism that even my doctors miss. now they have the test results it makes lots of sense.
finally my blood marker crp went from 0.7 to 6 very low the very high over the 6 weeks. I stopped taking many of my supplements inlcuding fish oils while camping. just wondering if the reduced supplements caused this and not the vegan diet. also my zinc, calcium and potassium crashed.
so i would have liked to share the vegan experience, its not easy getting great biological markers, it takes alot of work and effort and testing and retesting.
for me its a work inprogress that i am committed too and working towards perfect results over the next few months. On the positive side my liver markers all improved considerable. i also expect my homocyteine levels to have dropped as is common with vegans which is good for your health, but was not tested this time.
if you followed this and the china studies advice about low protein and avoiding animal protein, you may notice that my burning muscle we assumed was due to inadequate digestive enzyme. so the issue is that for the last 5 weeks of the vegan experiment, in adervtently i have been on a very low protein diet, my cancer marker cea still went up 3 points. not sure what this really means, just that this type of low protein is supposed to be associated with decrease in cancer markers. that what i was praying for anyway.
this has been shared so that anyone doing vegan diet can get blood markers checked by a supportive vegan gp if possible, mine are being done monthly.
hugs,
pete
ps so the biological targets this month are to continue vitamin c, to keep the vegan diet going targetting 110grams protein daily over all meals and shakes with digestive enzyme support. also i have some results about probiotics and my candida that i am focused on.0 -

I watched Forks Over Knives and was impressed by the information presented. However, when I tried to go vegetarian the first week I ate kale for the first time and had a severe allergic reaction -- painful welts all over my body. Had no idea I would be allergic to it. So that was discouraging.

Creon is a pancrelipase, special pancreatic enzyme formulas with extra lipase that are only available by prescription in the US and that the pharmas greatly overcharge for. Lipase splits fat and oil molecules, proteases break protiens down into peptides and amino acids. Pancreatins are not vegan products, either.
The inexpensive supplements in the US are pancreatin, with less lipase. Lipase, in great excess, can cause real problems. So getting it right is a consideration. Some protein sources, like milk whey, are easier to digest than others.
Although I think more vegatables are important, I'm a little shy about vegans replacing things like chicken liver and perhaps other organ sources. Liver packs in active vitamins and important near vitamins, like vitamin K2, methyl-B12, coQ10, lipoic acid, and D3, as well as a careful budget for vitamin A. Since sugar is an issue, I look for some fruit extracts to reduce fruit intake and fruit sugars, as well as some fruit displacement with vegetables.0 -

Always great suggestions, my creon is free here on our PBS scheme if you got cancer and low enzymes. I qualify. This six, but I am grateful to have test results that give me a project to focus on. Point taken about livers. I am vegan is, but not strict, it's medically based and I know creon cones from pigs.
Got one more day on this relaxing vegan meditation and healing retreat.
Believe it or not I feel I am the most obsessive and in some ways focussed cancer patient on the retreat.
Still being a pain in the **** to the organisers. Even these vegan experts don't push b12 or other foods that make it easy to be a super healthy cancer fighting vegan
Hugs,
Pete
Ps been chasing kangaroo's through the Bush when noone was looking. Lots of fun and a great workout.
None of these committed cancer fighters are jogging with me, or sprinting up mountain sides to the point of exhaustion.
They don't get the exercise message here, I just do my thing, I am leaving it up to the gawler facilitators to deliver the exercise message. Something they have failed to achieve this course, alas. Something my intuition says will cost lives, that my guts feeling. No tears though, just beads of sweat. Just one life to save. The meditation and all the lectures have been exceptional.0 -
