Relay of Life - Pictures of Luminaria Bags Posted on my site
Thanks to all the ladies on Uterine site and the Ovarian site that have given advice, support, love and encouragement to all going through this disease to fight their cancer. This is just a little bit of recognition for all that everyone has done to help each other and their loved ones.
I have posted some pictures of the bags on my “About Me” page so you can see them. trish

Thank you!
I went and looked at your pictures, and I want to say thank you for your thoughtfulness. Our Relay was a couple of weeks ago, and the luminaria service is always my favorite part. When the lights go out and the luminaria light up the stadium . . . I'm getting choked up thinking about it.
I hope your event goes well.

This is new to me and my family so not sure what to expect. I had never heard of it till last year when I was DX with Uterine cancer and a lady at work did a bag for me at her event.
I know that I will get choked up because my family has already donated 32 bags for the event including my mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, uncles, aunts, neighboors, friends. There are too many and I knew we did not catch all of them this year.
Thanks again. trish0 -

That is such a thoughtful
That is such a thoughtful gesture, Trish! I checked out the photos :-)
I have joined local Relay for Life teams the past few years doing fundraising and hoofing it many miles around the track - but the Luminaria ceremony after dark is always a very moving event.
Thank you for taking us along!

Trisha, thank you
You made me cry when I saw the luminarie in honor of me. I looked at all you pictures and was surprised to see the special one for me. What a special honor. I just finished the first day of my 6 th chemo. Everything went good today, and seeing this made it an even better day. It was so nice of you to list so many of the uterine survivors. it was also nice of you to include the Ovarian Board, too I read many of their posts, too.
Hope you have a wonderful evening on Friday. In peace and caring.0 -

So glad it made your day better and I am glad everything went well today. I will carry all the ladies with me tomorrow night when I walk the survivor lap and will remember all when the bags are lit up. I will try to get pictures of the lit bags and post them later on Saturday. Also we have been told that we can have the bags back and if you would like yours I can send it to you. Send me an email on here with the info. trish0 -

I think it is wonderful that you are walking tonight for All the Ladies for Uterine Cancer and I thank you for doing this walk.
However, I joined the Uterine Cancer Board in April of 2011 (the very same month as you did) as I was diagnosed with UPSC Stage 1 in February of last year. My User Name is Cheerful and I live in PA in the suburbs of Delaware County. However, I do not post very often on the uterine cancer board so I guess it is very easy to have overlooked my user name for the Luminaries Bag that was posted on Wednesday. I was hurt that my user name was omitted. Since it is probably too late to have my name on the bag for this year, please have it listed for me as "Cheerful" for next year's walk. I also check on the Uterine Cancer Board every day just to see what is posted.
I have a number of people that know me from my family, friends and people from my parish (church) that are praying for me now for my cancer not to return and I had wonderful support and prayers last year from everyone that I told that I had been diagnosed with this rare type of uterine cancer.
Last year I went through all the cancer treatments 6 rounds of carboplatin and taxol and had 3 rounds of radiation. As you know, going through chemo is not easy although I feel I did pretty well going through it. Also, as you feel, I am concerned and worried about a reoccurrence. From what I understand for a stage 1 survivor, there is a 15 to 20% chance of reoccurrence. I am thinking positive thoughts and I am very hopeful that this rare type of cancer that I have does not return on me for the future. I am eating a lot better and healthier now.
My oncologist is known nationally and locally and is listed as one of the Top 20 oncologists in the country in a well known magazine and I feel very fortunate and blessed to have been referred to him by my Gyn last year. He has given me expert advice and has a lot of knowledge about UPSC and has many years of experience in his field.
Anyway, good luck tonight with your cancer walk and again thanks and please keep my user name in mind for next year's Uterine Cancer Walk.

I am sorry you were hurt that your name was ommitted, I did try to get all the names but I knew that I would miss a few. I will print out a label and add your name to the list on the bag tonight before it is lit. Again, sorry I missed it. trish0 -

What a lovely thing to do Trish! I appreciate all the hard work that went into this. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos of the lit bags!
I agree that this brings all of us closer together as we walk the walk nobody wanted or anticipated. It's so nice to have support and encouragement!

I will be with you in spirit as you walk. Thankyou for your thoughtfulness. Is there time to put me on, too, please?

Sorry but this was in May 2012 when I walked. If I do it again in 2013, I will go through and try to get everyone's name and put it in the back of a bag I make up. There was someone that posted an email on the site and hit random message which pulled the messages up to the top. It has since been removed but the message stayed at the top.
Sorry for any confusion. trisha0 -

I usually check dates but must not have been operating on all cylinders this am. I was undergoing chemo at that time but still a lurker on the site. So I do feel like I was included.0
