Understand the fear
arndog. It may just be the results of all he's gone through. We'll keep ya'll in our thoughts and prayers.0 -
Don't read more in to it than was said.
The ENT is always a good start for the interception of anything going on, so it's logical to have him check out the situation.
And if nothing else, it should give you an all clear to help with any doubts creeping in.
I'm in no way a MD, but I doubt any recurrence would be so soon with everything your husband has gone through.
Best,

I'd Be Scared, Too
I don't see how anyone in your shoes would NOT be scared. Even knowing that odds are it's not cancer can't take away the fear.
Very glad the fever's gone, though. I dunno about anemia, but I would expect someone who's been going through this for this long to be fatigued and achy.
Hoping the doc's recommendation to see the ENT is just to rule out what we all fear, and hope you all can avoid. Do well.0 -

It is so easy to be afraid. I do think he will be fine (no cancer) but good thing he went to be checked. Let us all know and try and keep that committee in your heads from speaking out!0 -

Remember not to worry until it is time to worry. See what the doctor says first.0 -
I'm sorry that your husband
I'm sorry that your husband is having to fight this infection, hopefully an extension on the antibiotics will do the trick. In the meantime, hold steady, and avoid jumping to conclusions, as it doesn't help. I'm wishing the best of outcomes from the scan and ent visit.

Good news!!! No cancer!!! I was soooo scared they would have to do a neck dissection... Being that the infection has an unknown source, the doctor is ruling out all possibilities. I now believe, that all the joint pain and fatigue is coming from the blood infection going to his heart. They could not due a transorphangeal scope due to the radiation. So we do not know at this time, if there is damage. He will be seeing his cardio doctor this friday to see if he wants to wait it out or try to scope him. This thing has me really scared. He is very fatigue and hurting all the time. Everyone be careful this infection can come from peg tubes, Urinary infections, dental procedures, even flossing your teeth. With everyone having some to no salivary glands you all have more bacteria in your mouth. I think this happened when he bit the side of his mouth and had an open sore. Thanks for all the well wishes...0 -

No cancer! Wow - crazy to think this infection that's been wreaking so much havoc could have started out as something so small. Hope his meds kick into overdrive, and he can finally get the upper hand with this infection. I'm mostly happy, kind of irate for you - it seems so unfair for him to go through so much during treatment, then get kicked in the teeth by a stinking infection.0
