I'm so sorry to hear your news, Roger..........
I too believe in miracles, and my experience with God is......sometimes he waits till the very last minute! I certainly understand why you don't want to spend 3 weeks getting rads, after all you've gone thru to date.
I will however, send prayers and positive thoughts your way...I must...because I DO believe in miracles.

Roger,
Like John, I have no words to say other then, I'll be sending Prayers out.
I'm the new guy here and I don't know you as well as the others ....but your post "hurts" me ....I lost my brother last year to brain cancer (like the one Ted Kennedy had) and I also lost my dad to acute Leukemia last year (two months after my brother) .......
...when I had to tell my wife and five kids as well as my mother I had cancer ...they just knew I was a goner ....
....I say all the above to say this ....I completely understand your decision.....but on your behalf and with your permission I will say a prayer tomorrow with my pastor for you. I don't know what time bc it is too late tonight to call him (I live in Idaho) ...but I'm going to call him and a friend of mine name Jerry (church friend) .....and we will do the work on our end ....
....I do believe in miracles ....and it hurts me to see anyone suffer with this beast..truly it does .....
So like I said...though I don't know you ...I will add you to my nightly prayer list (I really do have one I keep beside my bed and I say them everynight) but I will call my pastor and my friend Jerry tomorrow and we will say a special prayer for you my friend .....
The best to you Roger .....keep us posted.........I know you are tired....but thanks for sharing ...

Roger, I am so sorry to hear
Roger, I am so sorry to hear that you are having to tap out. You are courageous and fought the good fight; remember every day we live we win, so win Roger, win right to the end. You will be in my heart and thoughts; may you go in peace, fellow warrior.

maybe not
It has been a very long time since I posted much of anything. I lost my husband Feb 2011 to laryngeal cancer. 6 months from official dx to his passing.
Sometimes the miracles we expect are not the ones that are given. There is still a miracle for you and yours, you just may not be here for it. I have nothing but awesome things to say about hospice. They helped my husband and I get the most out of the time we had left.
I pray for God's peace for you and yours, His love to enfold you and protect you, and for His love to help guide you and your family through the time ahead.
If someone finds this post defeating, I'm sorry. Quality over quantity, and patient first over all.

Fighting the Good Fight
Just because you aren't doing surgery, chemo and radiation at this time doesn't mean you're not still fighting the good fight. You just have different goals and a different strategy now. I hate that it's come to this point, though. As for typing badly and cussing - well, a lot of us would be in hot water if we had to type perfectly. I'm sending you and your wife love, and asking for strength and clarity.
Here, too, Hospice does a wonderful job. Before, I had always thought you contacted Hospice at the very end, and didn't last long - then I found out that here, you don't have to be on your last legs, just considered terminal. I would think they'll be able to help you and your wife by giving you some time to concentrate on each other. And I hope you have a lot of that.0 -

Roger,
First off, I'm sorry to hear this news, but thanks for posting it. As usual you have a great way of telling your story and being positive. In the past I've always looked forward to your posts due to your great outlook. In fact I keep a collection of wise sayings from here and I have more of your quotes than from anyone else. Second, wanted to say that No Way would anyone in their right mind call you a quitter. You've fought long and hard and you deserve to go peacefully and on your own terms. Again, another way that I admire you. My best to you on your journey Roger and here's to you enjoying a long amount of quality time with your family!

Roger, I echo what Greg has said and admire your grace under fire. Anyone of us could be in this situation one day, one scan down the road. If you can, and are willing and able, I would be honored to walk this cyberspace road with you. Keep posting if you can.0 -

I was devastated when I read your post. You are an amazing man and I admire your strength. I respect your decision, quality over quantity. I will be praying for you and your wife.
Like Ratface said, I would be honored to walk this cyberspace road with you, as well. Live it up my friend.0 -
Sorry Roger
Been watching for a post from you for awhile. Didn't want it to be this one but glad to read you're still with us. I'll be praying for you. Enjoy whatever time you might have left; hopefully years. May the sun shine on your face and brighten your days.

Hi Roger
I understand where you are coming from my brother. Know this for sure there is a place where we who have put our faith in Jesus will all be together again. A place of no sickness or death, I look forward to that day in being with Jesus and all my friends and family, I guess it is why I am no longer afraid of death.
You have been and will forever be my friend
