They determine your survivor status from the date of diagnosis, so congrats on your 3 year anniversary. I'm at just over 3 myself but am still afflicted so on to the next treatment option.

Thanks to all who participate in Relays. If there's one in your area, please go - even if it's only to walk the survivors' lap. You'll be glad you did.

With regard to Prostate Cancer specifically, some may recall that late last year the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended against PSA based screening for PCa in asymptomatic men and assigned a ‘D’ rating to the PSA test as a PCa screening modality. Unfortunately, the ACS and its chief medical and scientific officer support the Task Force’s position and do not recommend PSA based screening for PCa in asymptomatic men.

Until better PCa screening technology is found, most in the PCa community believe that PSA testing for PCa is a valuable screening modality that saves lives. Charitable cancer organizations that support PSA based screenings and other important PCa issues include The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF). According to charitynavigator.org, PCF’s overall charity rating is four out of four stars.

ZERO Foundation is another worthy charity for raising awareness and funds for the fight against PCa. Their DASH FOR DAD event is held annually in many cities across the U.S., usually in June around Father’s Day. This year my husband and I will be participating in the 2012 DASH FOR DAD on June 16th. If there's a DASH FOR DAD PCa fundraising event in your area, please consider attending as a participant, a volunteer, or a benefactor.

My wife and I both have enrolled for the GaryPapa run/walk this Father's day.Gary was the sports director for ABC tv.He was 1st dx many yrs ago,but loss his battle 5 yrs ago.He was always a bright light to all around him,and his viewers.It was a like a family member past. But ironically, I am also a survivior of PCa,and pulling strength from a man i admired for yrs with his fight against Pca. I guess now I can see it through his eyes,and a better understanding. Hopefully many more can sign up for the Relays, like said above even if just for the survivior lap. Good luck too all.
