it depends
on what was prescribed, and whether the thrush is resistant. I had the misfortune of having a resistant strain. When no relief was forthcoming 4days ino treatment, a switch to diflucan provided relief within 24 hours. It is an unpleasant problem.0 -

My Dr prescribed nystatin. I had heard that diflucan is usually what is perceived too. I'll see my RO tomorrow morning so I'll ask him about it then. I'm able to take the nystatin every 4-6 hours so I'll have a full day of treatment by the time I see him tomorrow. I'm really hoping it responds. My hubby made me a special Mother's Day breakfast this morning and I can't eat any of it...0 -

I just finished my second thrush party and as a result, I'll be on diflucan every day throughout the rest of treatment. After you beat it this round (and you will), look in your mouth and think about the signs really carefully so you can tell your doctor immediately if it comes back.
It takes longer than you would think to clear up. Unlike antibiotics, which take effect within a day or so, it took 3-4 days for me to really start to feel any relief from the thrush. It may be the same for you (although I hope it's faster).0 -

Sorry you've had to deal with this twice Laralyn! It really is a pretty nasty side effect. I feel like I jinxed myself! I had not even thought about thrush until I read a couple posts on here and I asked about it at my treatment Friday. They said that there wasn't anything I could do to prevent it but they could give meds to treat it. Other than a few ulcers, I've been feeling pretty great till now. I'm just hoping the medicine works quickly!!0
