Laralyn, I got my case of Instant Breakfast stuff......the 560 calories per 8 oz...will start using that tomorrow for even more calories.

Good for you! It really helps to not hesitate to use the tube, doesn't it? For some reason, I felt weird/guilty about it until I reminded myself that I'm still swallowing all day long, so it's a good thing for me to give my throat a break and get the food in my stomach.
The shakes are pretty thick and sometimes I have trouble getting them down because of the thrush. It works really well to use them as the base of a blender shake. Just add some thinner (I add coconut water since I'm allergic to milk) and then glcosamine or fruit or whatever you want. You end up with a thinner shake and more calories (although I have trouble finishing the larger amount).
In the morning, I thin mine with a couple shots of espresso. :-)0 -
good for you
I turned all that ino a mathematical game. How many calories do I need to take in? How many swallows per 8 ounces (I know that sounds wierd, but I didnt have a tube and I just do those strange counting games.). The rads slowed my swallowing mechanism a bunch. At the start I could down 8 ounces of ensure in 9 swallows. By the end of rads it took 22. Now Im back to 9 again. Strange, maybe, but it helped pass the time. Keep gaining weight. Your caloric requirements will likely go up toward the end of rads.

WAY TO GO!!!!
Happy for you!!! I remember having that same amazing feeling. My rad. doc always pushed the Ensure and Carnation instant breakfast with whole milk (was able to go from skim to 2%). He suggested adding peanut butter to Carnation. Can admit I didn't like it or Ensure, but you may. There are recipes on their website as well. My nutritionist (who had followed each month for over a year) had told me how the cancer cells burn up a lot of calories. So keep it up..stay hydrated..eat healthy..keep up your strength too. You are doing an awesome job!!!
God Bless you

So does that P stand fpr little piggy, LOL.....
So glad that you are maintaining weight, attitude and humor.
As you can tell, humor is big with me. I saw so many people in treatment that were negative...they all had problems and a hard time with treatment, recovery an surviving in general.
You're doing great girly,
