Hope you caught some fish. Been tough Sue. Bad chemical reaction to my mouth. Bawling out loud all weekend. Lidocaine mouthwash today and just sick from prednisone. Feeling bloated, weird weak. Now, today I see MD Anderson has me scheduled for every test known to man starting 18th of Aug. Dear Lord. I hate them all. They will not use a port and my veins are just gone. Most dreaded part. Also saw appt. for cancer re-stageing OMG. I don't even want to hear it. I will still be one short of six treatments of chemo when we have to go back. Dreary motel life and frightening stuff among the most pitiful of people. Now, I look like I belong. Cried today to see they added three more tests. MRI CT PET Blood work, eye test since it mass was in my eye (God rest my soul) Why? I am in the Why stage now. Think it will do me in the eye thing? I had one doc. there mention chemo in the spine> Looked it up deadly Painful. Well, if they can't put you to sleep I won't be getting it. This I will fight for. I hope you are well and did have a good time. Sorry to bring everyone down. I hate to get the darn mail. MD Anderson name makes me crazy. Some of this stuff can be done here not there? I will ask my doc. running in the road is bad real bad. Only reason I was referred was because of the eye issue. Please don't let it be in my brain. I have a sore throat and spot on my temple. How did the temple one get there. Mind going crazy. Help.NO end in sight. Overwhelmed. Hugs to you.0 -
No fish...boo!
Hey guys,
Well...we didn't catch any fish..boo hoo! It rained all day Thursday and then off and on again on Friday. I only went out Friday morning because the rain and wind was just too much for me to handle. I use to fish through all kinds of nasty weather, but the cold really gets to me now. Steve went back out after he took me in to the cottage, but he didn't get a single bite. So...Saturday we both stayed in and relaxed all day and then had a nice BBQ diner with our friends. No fish, but still had a wonderful time. We had a beautiful view of the Super Moon on Saturday night, which was amazing! I was so glad it cleared up so we could see it. Anyways...it's good to be home and back babysitting my Lizzy girl. She will be 1 year old on Wednesday...can you believe it's beena year already??!! Yikes...time is flying by wayyyy to fast! Love you all...Sue

Hi Carol,
I'm so sorry you are feeling so down hearted right now. I remember feeling the same way until I got through my first 3 or 4 rounds of chemo. That darn prednisone really messed with my emotions, and just about the time I'd get things somewhat in control, it would be time to go in and start another round. I felt like a dog chasing it's tail most of the time it seemed. It really will get better Carol, but right now it's hard to believe it. The R-CHOP is a lot rougher than the chemo I had, so my heart really goes out to you. I went through many stages.... the "Oh my God, this can't be happening"..."Why me?"...."Am I going to die, and when???"...you name it, I thought it! I got angry, sad, bitchy, mean, and then other times I'd actually feel giddy and happy and couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was feeling that way! Oh and at the same time all of this was going on, I was going through full blown menopause having massive hot flashes every 5 minutes!Geez...when I think back about it, it's a wonder I didn't go nuts through it all! But, I didn't, and neither will you. Since you have until August before you go back to MDA, try not to worry about what they will do then. Right now just focus on things that are happening today...I know it's hard to do, but getting too far ahead in your thinking really is a stressor and your immune system just doesn't need any added stress right now. By the way...don't ever worry about bringing anyone down when you need to vent...thats what we are here for...good times AND the bad times! I'll say a "special" prayer tonight for you, in hopes you will find some peace. Keep coming back...we are always here for you. Love...Sue

Hi Carol
I am so sorry that you are feeling so stressed. Sue is right, try not to worry about what is upcoming in August. thats a long ways away.
I have a few suggestions and thoughts that might help you feel less stressed.
First, you can ask/demand to have a port put in. If your veins are giving out, then you really should have one. It's your body and you DO get to have a say in how things are done. Many folks don't know that they can stand up and demand to have one, if necessary.
Second, I have been treated at MDA also. It does feel a bit like a factory system, but it helped the process run smoothly for me. I believe that the Ct Pet are the same test. It's done at the same time, overlapping they call it. MDA does like to do their own scans, but I was allowed to have blood work done near my home when I was not in Texas.
As far as Motels/Hotels go, there are many that give a really good discount to MDA patients. The website has a list of most of them and their rates. Also you could ask your navigator or social worker at MDA to help find a better place to stay. I have stayed at two different places and they were both fine. Many have a free shuttle service to and from MDA, so no hassle with parking.
If you want more info, I would be glad to help. You can email me if you want.
Take care and try not to stress to much about the future.
