Doctor says "no more chemo"...what does that mean?

    I'm sorry for what you are going thru.......
    but if your doctor said "no more chemo" and didn't explain it to you, then you need to find another doctor. Maybe your mind just shut down and you couldn't process what was being said? Can you go back to the doctor and take a friend or family member with you to help you get the answers you need? Hopefully someone else on this site will be able to share similar experiences and maybe answer your question.

    Jammie gave you a very good advice. Make an appointment and take a family member or friend with you to take notes and ask additional questions.
    Second opinion is always beneficial, especially in difficult situations.

    Hi calipal,

    I'm stage IV IBC also, with mets to the lymph nodes between my lungs. You don't say much about your cancer...more information might help us better reply to your post. Regardless, I agree with getting a second opinion.

    I also think you should try and find an onc who is experienced with IBC. As you probably know, IBC is a slightly different beast from other breast cancers. And sadly, there are still many docs who don't recognize it or don't know how to treat it. From your name, are you in California? If so, there are some good IBC docs in San Fran. Also Dr. Cristofanilli at Fox Chase is widely considered the best IBC doc in the US.

    mom also has ibc that has spread

    I am looking to speak with someone who has been treated for Inc that has spread to liver and or lungs to compare treatment recommendations. My mom just found out she has Inc that has spread to her liver and lungs. Not sure if her oncologist is giving her the best treatment options.
