biopsy
I am in pain still from the biopsy. My breast is all shades of purple & black from the bruising. & I never thought i would feel tired. Such a little thing & I am tired. Thanks for the support again & I am going to continue to keep busy this week. Straighten my craft room so that I can be creative & release this stress. Its gonna be a long week.!!0 -

A big welcome from us all. I wish it wasn't under this circumstance.
Yes, I totally know what you mean. I took the day off, had a list of things I needed to do after my quick, routine mammo...3 hours later, I was at a surgeons's office getting a cone biopsy...another 3 hours later and I was getting a scan. Talk about feeling like I was a walking zombie in a horror flick!
My older son knew right away, however I didn't tell my younger daughter (15) until a few days later. I had to prepare myself for her reation. Kids are stronger than you think.
It is a whirlwind of tests not to mention emotions! Hang in there. God is my strength through everthing. I'm praying for you.
Hugs,
Sylvia
I hope we've made you feel comfortable here and welcomed. I am sending positive thoughts and prayers.

I told our girls about what all we know at this point.. Everyone handled it well. or as well as can be expected. but now that we told my stepdaughters they told their mom with is fine they need someone close to confide in but she talked with my mother in law this weekend (her ex mother in law) told them that I had my biopsy! Wow what a betrayal. One reason we had not told MIL is because she is having surgery on Thurs for her breast cancer that has come back & we didnt want to stress her with this...hoping we never had to bother her with it that my results would be good. So now they are angry with me because we didnt confide in them. Am I wrong for keeping this within my "house" until I get all the information & answers? I dont want to cause anyone undue stress.!0 -

I would say you aren't wrong and I understand completely. This is happening to YOU and YOU have the right to tell or not tell whomever you want and if someone doesn't understand it, try to not worry about them. This is a time for YOU!
I pray that you can tell everyone good news, but for now, you just do what you want to do and try to not worry about anyone else or their feelings. They are being very selfish and self centered to get mad over your not telling them or someone when you are dealing with this.
Take care of yourself and try to not worry about anything else.

I am just recovering from invasive Loblular Carcinoma - stage 4. I had it 27 years ago and now again. I had 9 months of chemo and then a mastectomy. I feel truly blessed because the margins were very wide and clear. The chemo worked wonders and I feel great. I had a second ductal carcinoma 17 years ago and had a mastectomy and reconstruction the same day. Had I known all this would happen I would have had a double mastectomy 27 years ago. But things were a lot different then than they are today - we have much better treatments today.
Just do the next right thing. Breathe all fear and anxiety out of you - every 5 minutes if necessary, and share as much or as little information as feels right with other people - any other people. This is all about you and you get to make your decisions with your husband and whomever else you want on this journey with you.
God bless you

Hi again, No you're not wrong at all. How can you be wrong about the handling of your own disease (hopefully not disease). When first diagnosed I felt like a failure because of the flipped out way I reacted. I compared myself to everyone's family member(people tell you their stories) who went through it so strong and courageous. I came to the conclusion that this is MY disease, MY body, and My trial of faith. God has allowed (not caused) this to come into my life for a purpose unique only to me. How you decide to handle every aspect is a very personal choice and you have the right. There;s enough pressure without others having expectations (for themselves) and getting angry with you when you don't satisfy their needs and wants.
Hoping and praying it's all for not.0 -

As has been said, there are no real rights or wrongs on who and when to tell. This is your thing and you need to do what feels right to you. I have 5 children between 19 and 26. I was first diagnosed about 1.5yrs ago with Anal cancer (and thats a hard one to discuss with people who don't have), and then last month with Secretory Carcinoma...a very rare Breast Cancer. I never made specific plans for talks with family, just kind of knew when the time was right. I did find my kids (oldest a boy, the rest girls) to be much more relaxed about hearing the info than I thought. We have had a few unexpected emotional breakdowns over the year that when I think about it are due to botteled up worry and concern, those kids need hugs and reassurance as much as we do through this....but you will all come out with a renewed strength and closness that is an unbelievable blessing. It is always easier to answer questions as you have more info and feel more confident yourself. This site is full of people with great advice and support so seek help as needed. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers as you continue on this adventure.0 -

I am not sure how to post a response to all the post on my post.. Thanks so much for the support so far.. a little more information about my girls.. My 2 (20 & 15) live with us & my 2 stepdaughters (25 & 21) are out of state. I believe that I am going to have to let my girls know what is going on because my husband will be staying home tomorrow to take me to my biopsy so they will know something is up & I dont want them to be blindsided by this. I believe I will not go down the "cancer" road totally just let them know that something was found that wasnt right & let them lead the way to any questions they have & answer those the best I can.. Again Thanks for the support & information.. I WILL keep you updated on me.. My results should be in in 3 -5 days.
What a beautiful family you have. I love your picture! I am praying for you and will be adding you to our prayer list at church.
Stay strong and keep fighting,

No one should decide to divulge this for you. I am so sorry that you need to tell your relative about it now that you have found out. Perhaps she will understand that you are trying to spare her the stress given time. She has enough to recover from with her own issue. That being said perhaps the tatling relatives told quite by accident and did not intend to cause such a rukus. Try to let this go as you now know you have a fight to focus on.0 -
