The Thymus

I recently had a CT scan (instead of my normal PET scan) and it was noted that the Thymus had decreased considerably in size.

I know very little of this gland except that it is large when you are a child and shrinks as you age and this is where the T-cell and B-cells originate from.

I have Follicular NH Lymphoma, not T-cell or B-cell Lymphoma. Does anyone have any information on how the Thymus is linked to Follicular, if it all? Seeing as how it's shrinking, maybe I'm finally growing up?:)

Onc was not concerned and everything else in the scan is same as previous ones, which is good.

The mysteries of the human body!
Thanks!
Cat

    Couldn't find any info...
    Hi Cat,
I tried to find information regarding the Thymus being linked to Follicular, but so far have not seen anything helpful to answer your question. I think if your doctor feels good and nothing new is showing up on your scan, then probably(hopefully) there isn't anything to worry about. I always compare past scans to new scans just to see if anything is different. At times I've made myself crazy looking for answers to certain findings written on my scans that ended up being nothing for me to even worry about. I tend to be an information "junkie" which sometimes adds stress that could otherwise be avoided. I'm learning to trust my doctor more with each passing month and not question everything so much. Take care Cat, and sorry I couldn't help out more. Have a great weekend.

    Hi Sue!
I am kind of an information junkie myself! I want to know EVERYTHING and WHY. I figured I would just throw it there, cuz you never know what someone else has experienced. Your little cutie is getting so big! She has a gleam in her eye ha ha! Mine just turned 4 wow did it go by in a blink, keep taking those photos!
    Much love,
    Cat

I love your new picture. Was that the baby in the first picture you posted? She is adorable. I don't know about the thymus but I trust my ONC comletely as I am sure you do. I miss my grandchildren so much since they moved in Oct to San Fran. I hate to fly but we are leaving on the 27th of June for 6 weeks. I only have 25 days of school left. I love my class but I am ready to not spend 6 + hours a day with themm for awhile. Have a great weekend. Love your new picture Sue. Is she getting ready to walk yet? Blessings, Joanie

    Getting ready to walk...
Yes...I'm thinking any day now she will take off with that first step or two. She's already standing and letting go of her props..(couch, coffee table)etc, so she's gaining confidence to just let go and take off. She's a handful, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Take care...Sue (FNHL-2-3a-6/10)
