Urgent Plea from Mindy Mordecai, President and CEO of ECAN

Good Morning everybody,
I got this email this morning from ECAN and if anyone can help with this, please contact her ASAP. Go to www.ECAN.org to see if there's a theater in your area.

Because you've shown a desire to raise awareness about Esophageal Cancer, we wanted to share an opportunity we've just discovered and would be thrilled to have your help pursuing. We must apologize that we are providing ridiculously short notice about this, but hope that there's a chance you may be available to help in any case.

THIS THURSDAY (4/26) Theaters around the nation will be screening Casablanca in honor of its 70th anniversary!

ECAN is reaching out to audiences as part of our partnership with the estate of Humphrey Bogart with informational cards and wristbands with our life-saving message: Heartburn can cause Cancer. We've done a rush print order and have folks standing by ready to mail them out along with our periwinkle wristbands so they can be distributed to audiences who come out for Casablanca.

Can you help us share the message? We've attached a list of theaters that are screening the film so that you can find out if your local theater is showing the film.

If it is, and you have the time and willingness to help us with this project, please give the theater a call just to clear it with the local management and then let us know your plans. If we hear from you by noon, we can send a package to you overnight so that you will have wristbands and cards to distribute to the theater audience on Thursday evening.

We will also be contacting the local media in every town/city where we have volunteers on the job! We want to share the message and it gets amplified when the media reports about all the people we are reaching directly. And it's great that we are still able to do it during EC Awareness Month! (Let us know if you aren't comfortable talking to reporters.)

Even though this has turned out to be a mad scramble for all of us, we believe it will be well worth it if we can get a good number of our folks to share our message with the thousands who will turn out for this event! And it's a great way for us to do something beneficial as the first activity to promote the support of Humphrey Bogart's estate.
