EVERYTHING CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN, OUR LARGEST ORGAN
Dreft used to be one of the most gentle laundry soaps. I haven't checked it out in years, so I don't know. It's frustrating, because all products seem to have so many chemicals in them. Same for make-up. I go to a website called cosmeticsdatabase.com before I buy costmetics. It not only tells you what's in all these products, but their rating, what they can cause, etc. It's disturbing, but helpful to have this reference. Try that website and see if it has info regarding household products. Or maybe it will direct you. This will probably be a long process, trying to find 'clean' products. And even if it says 'natural', does not mean it's safe. Ditto for 'green products'. Not only are they super expensive, they may be 'earth' friendly, but not always 'people' friendly.
Good luck in your search - let us know what you find out!

Safe products
I reduced the products I use to castile soaps and coconut oil moisturizers. I can't find a shampoo that appears to be free of health risks, so have opted for liquid castile soap. Dr. Bronner's makes one for personal use and one for laundry and other cleaning projects. I generally check any product I am considering at this website.

Natural Products
Yes, I've switched to less toxic products that I've found at Whole Foods. While they may not be perfect, they're better than many on the market. You can drive yourself crazy trying to eliminate everything from your life. I also investigated pure products for the face, and ended up buying Burt's Bees products. They had the shortest list of ingredients, and were free of "sodium lauryl sulfate" or "sodium laureth sulfate" which are supposed to not be good for you. I use "WEN" hair cleansing conditioner, which is the equivalent of a shampoo. Probably as I learn more and more, I'll pare the list down further. Good luck!0 -
I wanted to add that I've also switched to a fluoride-free toothpaste and an aluminum-free deodorant. Tom's of Maine makes these, but others do as well. I buy these at my regular supermarket.....whiterose said:Natural Products
