chemo next weekSkiffin16 said:Acid Reflux...
I've had acid reflux every since chemo an rads three years ago....
Protonix is what is prescribed for me, and it has worked great.
Best,
John
I start chemo next week, well if interferon is considered chemo. LOL, I wouldn't know, but i've got one month five times a week, then at home 3x a week for the next year. Does the chemo give you stomach problems? My sis-in-law had to do interferon for a year, she lost like 40 lbs and was sicker than a dog, most days she just got up drank a little coffee a a small portion of breakfast and slept in the sun room. I'm hoping that since i'm a little more healthy body-wise and spirit wise than most, that the chemo won't have too bad of an effect on me.0 -

But if you have a good MD like I did, they'll have something.
My chemo md always told me, "whatever symptom you have, let me know...I have something for it"..., LOL and she always did.

I didn't know any of you had acid reflux. John, i've had it for a year or more. Somewhat glad to hear that it may be caused by chemo or rads. At least i have some idea that I am "abi-normal" as the saying goes. I take a med also that also works. So go tell you Dr., they have some good pills to help it or stop it...
all the best,

I never had a single episode of reflux in my life, until the day after my radical neck dissection. That was 14 years ago, and I've had reflux every day since then, beginning with the very first day after my surgery. It responds well to medication. I'm on one of the OTC preps (famotidine). But if I miss more than one dose, here comes the pain. There is a strong relationship between the two, though it wouldn't seem like it should be so.0 -

Very strange that you all got acid reflux after treatment. My husband had horrible acid reflux prior to treatment. Hw would eat rolaids by the handful. Now, he has no reflux and has not touched a rolaid in a year.0
