Me and My Big Fish...
I hope to keep up with y'all. I'm still in such worry mode over the biopsy on my tongue and possible recurrent SCC, mets all that stuff. Maybe it's in my head but I think everyone new to cancer goes through that. Looking over the shoulder, so to speak. I hope that makes sense to you.

You bet it makes sense to me...
Cancer isn't some foreign enity any longer...something "other people" get...it's entered our personal space now. I do think that time will calm some of the fear...you know, putting some distance from first diagnosis, to the "now". You just had surgery, and don't have any distance yet. I can tell you, that every ping and pang I feel in this old body has my scruteny now...where only a few short months ago, I would have said "ouch" and moved on, never thinking about it again. Those days are past, at least for the near future.
What kind of fish is that? If you were up here, I'd think it was a Lake Trout...dang it's BIG!

Kathryn, first of all, nice
Kathryn, first of all, nice fish, I guess this makes you a BFF to your friends... I'm sorry to hear that you have to have a biopsy of a suspicious area on your tongue, that is never desirable. Of course it's in your head, as it is for all of us whenever there is suspicion of a reoccurrence. Looking over my shoulder is what I did a lot of early on, but less so as time progressed, so what you are experiencing makes perfect sense. I'm hoping that the results come back negative. In the meantime, keep yourself distracted with work, activities etc, and avoid dwelling on the biop; you have to keep moving forward. It's important to strike a balance between thinking about, and sharing your thouhts and feelings about the situation, and maintaining your daily activities.

Wow
Wow nice fish!!
I know how you are feeling Kathryn.
I am so worried that The SCC will come back.
I just had surgery last month and am finally getting over the sylvester the cat talking.
Or as my husband said "the sean connery voice" LOL
Anyways I hope your biopsy comes back clean!
I am waiting for the weather to warm up out here (in Minnesota) so I can hit the lakes! Maybe someday I can beat that fish of yours! I can't really tell what you have there.
Hope I did'nt butt in on a private site. I am new here.
take care everyone,
Renee

Wow...a salmon!KRBigFish said:The Big Fish is A Chinook Salmon
I can't tell you how much your words mean to me, thank you so much!
The fish is a Chinook Salmon, caught from the Siletz River off the central coast of Oregon. And yes, I have a beloved dog too, named Hannah Banana.

There's a lot of good meat on that bad boy! I caught a salmon on the Oregon coast when I was a teenager, my dad took us fishing in Astoria...I didn't know they grew that big in fresh water (ok, none you professional fisher-people give me trouble...I don't know anything about fish or fishing...or their biological lives, and I know it shows....LOL).
Seems there are many dog lovers here...I have never lived a single second of my life without a pup at my side...Actually, this is the first time I've only had one fur-kid in the house.
There was a thread going a couple weeks ago where we all posted about our four-legged partners in crime...I'll bump it up so you can introduce us to Hannah Banana..

Thank you for the welcome.
Me too fisr. I hope the SCC never bites this line again.
I too love dogs and all critters.
Sorry I have no pic up yet. I am still trying to navigate around this thing.
I did update my profile though.
I never caught a salmon but I hear they are a blast to fish for.
Take care all.
Enjoy your weekend!

phrannie, salmon swim up the river they were born in to spawn! This was caught 8 miles upriver from the mouth of the ocean. It's still in the tidal waters, as the river is still tidal to about 13 miles in.

Renee, it took one hour, a broken pole, and many bumps and bruises later to reel that fish in. That weekend we dined on the salmon and some Dungeness crab we had caught earlier in the day in the bay. I am enjoying my weekend, thank you!

Tampa Bay Grouper...
I'm always up for both fishing photos, and my chocolate labs as mentioned, LOL....
You can check out my expressions for some of my recent catches...(post treatment).
Here's a few friends I invited home just before grouper season closed last year.
Tampa Bay Grouper
In a few months, they'll be opened up again, so I'll be hitting the Skyway Bidge Pilings.
Pompano and Flounder should start making a showing any week-end, I'll make sure I post up a few photos.
Tight Lines,
