Spindle cell cancer

My mother has spindle cell cancer. She just had a lump removed from her cheek and completed 20 days of radiation. Now the area that was radiated is infected. She is taking antibiotics and I think the infection is getting better. She is 80 years old. It is a rare type of cancer. Does anyone else have this on there face?

I had squamous cell cancer with spindle cell variant on my upper lip. I had 1 inch of my lip removed (50 stitches) and followed with 30 plus radiation treatments. In less than a year I had a lymph node on the opposite side of my neck with mets. Because my neck was dry from the radiation, I was able to feel it early--neck dissection followed by radiation again. I lost a salivary gland and about 15 lymph nodes, only 1 was cancer. Not much information on spindle cell. Mine seemed to be very aggressive and fast. Hopefully your mom will make a full recovery. Sorry to hear about the infection.

Thank you for responding. I hope you are feeling better and will not develop more lumps, such a difficult thing to have to endure. I wish I could make it go away for you and for my mother.
