in Head and Neck Cancer #1
I am a 78 yr.old male DX.in 2011 with B.O.T & gland,both sides and spread to right lung,no prim. found.Very close to end-in Hosp. for week and down to 115lbs.They, Dr's said I was only treatable, not cureable, and was given very little hope to with stand the Chemo/Rad.
A thanks to the many post read on this network and my wife and caregiver I am 6mo out and N.E.D last mo. on P.E.P scan.Yesterday E.N.T scoped me and every thing was clean.Weight now @ 136.Problems eating some things,Carry bottle of water every place I go and drink hot water after each meal.I was totaly deaf for three months and now I can here my dog bark and that was good. I hope this post brings hope to any one who thinks they can not make it.
It was a hard fight for me but worth it. Again thak you C.S.N Ralph& Carol

    well hello Mr Ralph
    I had feared for you, as it has been quite awhile since you've posted, and things were not going that well when you last did. You sound much better! Your weight is impressive, as it was down quite a bit below this, if I remember. I'm glad to hear things are working out so much better for you. How is the mucus problem now?

    God bless you Ralph, he works miracles even when Dr's think there is no hope,
    They are NOT god. Only God and yourself can get you through the times when you
    Think all is lost. I hope and pray for you to have many more NED in the future.

    I read a lot of your post to the family,and must say you give a lot to others who fear the unknow. Yes back then I was at the point of giving up--a lot of depression and misery--thank god for a suporting wife.There is nothing worse than mucus 24/7. About the 5th month it slowed down to twenty time a day of hacking up.Hope you well Ralph

    For your thoughts, never been to much of a church going person, my sis, she's a litttle older than I looked at me before I went into the hosp. and said to me "Why have you waited so long to see a Dr. when you,ve known that somthing was wrong" I did not want to tell her that it was my way of leaving this town, she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said I have something I want you to have--at that she placed a small cross into my hands and said rub it every night as I rub mine and you will survive if you believe.

    Inspirational stuff that Ralph. I am 34, diagnosed 3 weeks ago with MEC (in a node, unknown primary). To see people like you who fight and win against such odds is truly inspiring with my own battle ahead.

    I will walk through every level of hell to see my two little ones grow up - they are one and three years old. If I have half your guts then I reckon I will be fine. Congratulations on the remarkable recovery and all the very best for the future.

    Hi Ralph, I am not a church going person either, my wife is and she does enough
    For both of us, but when this bump in the road entered my life I was determind
    To get through it one way or another and with Gods help it just made it a little
    Easier, so I thank him everyday.
    When I post things I finish by blessing everyone to help with their trials and tribulations
    We all need al little blessing sometimes.

    Many years from now. Like you said its people like Ralph that are inspirational and
    There are plenty more on here aswell that will help you on your path to a healthy
    And semi-normal life once more.
    I finished my last Rad session today (33 sessions) for Tonsil Cancer so now on
    The road to recovery.

    You will make it
    The first day they put that mask on me--and bolted it down--the panic button--just for a short minute,scared yes, but each time it got better. I would close my eyes and dreame of pleasent thoughts. I've read your post and you are a strong person--=go for it!!

    Your post brightened my day right up Dan - taking my grandkids to Anfield is a fantastic dream for me and I know one day I will do exactly that. When I do I will think back to this and smile I believe. thanks for the positive words, they genuinely mean a lot to me.

    My day was pretty good in other ways too - Liverpool beat Everton in the FA Cup semi final 2-1 in a comeback win. If I am well enough after my neck dissection and tonsil removal on the 23rd April I am going to do everything I can to get to Wembley and see that final in person!

    Hope you enjoy no more treatments and getting back all those little pleasures you have been missing...
