Limelifes CT report not the best

in Kidney Cancer #1
Hey everyone got called into the docs office today and was told there was a abnormal growth on the left kidney ,needless to say I feel like I just took another left hook from the devil.I have to go in Friday for an MRI to try to establish what it is ,of course doctor said not to worry. Since it could be a lot of things,not try to complain but how does one not worry while having to go to work and then waiting till next week to find out what is wrong if anything i guess the silver lining in all this is that everything else was clear.Every ones input is welcome as always,I just hope it is nothing and I can enjoy a little peace for a while.Tnx and have a nice day.

    I sure don't know how to not worry. It is a shame they can't tell us something a little sooner on these tests. You know, if it was a doctor, they would know right away.

    Sorry to hear about the report. Maybe it is nothing? Don't they say that our bodies can make small cysts at times and they go away by themselves? I hope all works out well. My prayers and hopes are with you.

    bad reports
    I think I have an idea of how you feel. I remember my oncologist telling me after a scan that I had multiple mets and there was nothing they could do for me at my local hospital. I went to a larger cancer center and met with the top oncologist (after a friend pulled some strings) He told me "Good Luck". I was feeling mentally crappy by then. I no longer felt there was much hope. But third times a charm. My next consult at Yale not only gave me hope but put me in the MDX study and I'm doing incredibly well. So..Good things can still happen. Stay positive.

    Yes...we do worry. When they give us a report such as that and tell us not to worry after all we have been through, how does one not worry? Does the place where you work offer an employee type service where you can talk to someone - like a counselor? I can't recall the name of this program - my employer offers it. It is a type of counseling where they just help you through the rough spots - it is not regular therapy or anything like that. Listen to fox because he is my role model for the 'what if' question. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    The American Cancer Society Patient Navigator Program connects you with a patient navigator at a cancer treatment center. You can talk one-on-one with a patient navigator about your situation. This person will listen in your time of need. Call us at 1-800-227-2345, and we can tell you more about this program.

    Has anyone had experience of the Program? If so please tell us whether it proved useful and might offer some assistance to Mike, renal scare and others here. I would hope that, at the very least, it might point expertly to other resources that could help.

    No, Fox, you're doing credibly well - because if anyone is cut out to benefit from the study it's you. Keep showing us the way.

    Glad to hear the golf round went so well and I bet you were glowing when you came off the course. Have another one for me - it's not much above freezing here and pissing down with rain so even if I could play I wouldn't be.

    What's the MDX administration schedule and how soon might there be clues as to how it's going more generally? I wonder if everything is necessarily under wraps or whether there are early indications on such topics as tolerance, drop out rates etc.

    Next week I'll do an MDX part3 update. I have scans 4/16 and will find results on the 18th. Any updated info I can get, I'll pass along. But so far, my oncologist has said that they have access to my clinical course that they are involved in. Not the behind the scenes work being done by Bristol Meyer Squib. Most data I can find on the internet is not current........But here is some other news...Seems that a small growth I had on my back...about the size of a corn kernal...essentially disappeared. It was biopsied a couple weeks ago and was confirmed to be Basal cell ca. I'll see a skin oncologist in a couple weeks to make sure it is gone but the MDX seems to have even eliminated that. It is known to work on melanoma but now it will have to include Basal cell ca......now if it can only grow a full head of hair, build biceps, straighten teeth,eliminate bad breath, improve my personality, then maybe I can be the world's most interesting man...Look out Dos Equis man!

    I can understand why you would worry..I think we all worry when we have to go in for our follow up tests..It's hard not to..They started finding things wrong with my right kidney in 1989 and I had a break from it all until 1997 than again in 2005 and now it has become not so good and I am scheduled for surgery on April 30 and of course there will be follow tests after that for a while and I am not sure what else. The not knowing it hard. The one good thing is I am still alive and here after all these years. I really sympathize with what you are going through right now and hope everything comes out ok on your next test..
