It has been 5 months since my Esophageal surgery. I was a stage 2. I went thru 30 days of radiation and chemo and then surgery. They didn't see anything else there after treatments but I elected surgery anyway to make positive. I go for my first 6 month check up next month. These last 2 weeks I keep getting what feels like "air bubbles" in my throat when I eat and/or drink. It's not every time but more often than not. When I get this feeling it is quite painful and I cannot seem to get the food/liquid down. I have to go spit it out. Has anyone out there experienced this?

How long has it been since your Mom's surgery? Did the doctors make her a new esophagus out of her stomach? What is involved in having the new esophagus stretched?'

Yes, my mom had a ton of air bubbles. She is 4 months post op. She took tums everyday and that seemed to help. Over time, the air bubbles got less and less.
