Another DRE!

So apparently the receptionist at my doctor booked me for an appointment yesterday that was supposed to be next month. I saw the doctor in February and had a DRE and thought I was supposed to go today but it was next month. Anyway he gave me another DRE and said things looked good. He did say that I had a "couple" of internal hemmroids and a "small ulcer." I was like what? He said it was nothing to worry about and that he would just watch everything. I said why do I have such a BUSY BUM??? Anal cancer then hemmroids and a small ulcer? Enough is enough as Donna Summer would say! I have a colonoscopy next Thursday so who knows what surprises he will find there! Same doctor/surgeon. *Sigh*

    Hi Chris!
    I'm sorry you had to endure another DRE so soon just because of a scheduling mix-up, but glad to hear that everything is good. Does your doc think the small ulcer is related to the radiation treatment? I wouldn't be surprised. Hemorrhoids are annoying, but at least they are NOT cancer. Good luck with the colonoscopy next week--I hope it's squeaky clean!

    Thanks Beautiful! Yes the doc said he thought the small ulcer was from the radiation. I guess they dont go away either. My bum is busy as I said yesterday! Thanks for the support as always! Will let you know about the colonoscopy next week. Cheers!

    Sorry to hear about the multiple DRE's. I get one every time I see any doc.. my primary, the onc, the rad doc, and the gen surgeon... I am glad that they do because I don't want to go on this journey again. Anyway, I am glad to hear that the ulcer is from the radiation... my doc says that if there is an ulcer, then they suspect the tumor again... I luckily don't have anything other than the outer butt tags, and the radiation proctitis.. which has tighten up the butt hole. My onc from NYOH (new york oncol/hematology) suggests to dilate the butthole... my onc from the VA says not to. I had an anoscopy last week... I don't recall whether I had one prior to this... but, that is the scope that will identify the anal tumors, moreso than the colonoscopy. Anyway, good luck with your c'scopy next Thurs. My last one was great, so I don't need another for 2 years now. My husband's was clear, also. (He had esophageal cancer.) Good luck. Keep us posted. God bless.

    Thanks so much! I didnt know that an ulcer meant the tumor was back...now i am worried again. This doctor said he thought it was from the radiation. Hopefully he is right.

    I am English, Irish and French. Originally from Maine and live in Massachusetts now. My sisters and I have always called my mum "Mum" I guess it is an English thing since most say "Mom"

    Don't worry...I have an appointment next week and am now curious also, but I know I have heard they are common side effects from radiation. Your doc will be watching closely for a while so stay calm it all sounds normal to me.

    Hemmroids
    I had my colonoscopy in November and the colorectal surgeon found two small internal hemmroids as well as one small external hemmroid. He said they were no big deal.
