Keeping hoping
Sorry to hear the news isn't better but SO glad to see you're not letting it beat you down.
I've also just started a new thread showing some fascinating new research findings which demonstrate how rapid the progress is in increasing our understanding of the sneaky disease. You may want to cast an eye over it because it reveals one of the main problems that has been defying progress and so it gives a picture of the way ahead.0 -
Keep hope alive...
RS57,
To quote Yogi Berra, "It ain't over 'til its over!", keep fighting. There are drugs and trials available that may extend your life until the "magic bullet" is discovered, MDX-1106 documented here by foxhd shows great promise and has kept the Grim Reaper at bay, have you asked your docs about trying to get into this trial, or others? Have you considered Gerald White's MAARS program? My point is that as long as you are still breathing you have options so don't give up! I apologize if this sounds too blunt, I don't mean it to be.
Hang in there,

One of the first things I read and remember from this forum was to hang tough and not give up hope because the cure may be just around the corner. I've heard some talk that the MDX is looking so promising that they want to push it through for FDA approval long before the studies are complete. RS57, keep looking at your options. Remember that 2 cancer facilities said they couldn't help me either. Neither was able to provide the treatments that the third was able to. And I just finished my 3 mile run after weight training this morning. I might be dead now if I hadn't kept looking. Sure glad I hung in there. You need to also.

Even you, on your own, couldn't be giving it that much momentum so maybe it really is a silver bullet.0 -

"The Magic Bullet" was the cure for syphilis!
I believe the term 'magic bullet' has been adopted by default by people unfamiliar with the significance of the much older term - the silver bullet - which is what we all seek to slay a monster.0 -

Hi RS,
Sorry to hear of the news and the stress that goes along with it. I agree with everyone here...it's so important to keep trying. It seems that of the many success stories I've read on this board, there is one common thread - us, the patients, doing as much as we can to control the situation. Whether it's finding a new doctor, looking into research trials, following Gerald White's program, changing diet.......it all starts with us. I think taking control, even if just a little bit, does so much.
And I also agree They are so close to a cure. So, really, hang in there!

Absolutely correct Mike, but there's been considerable progress in treatment over the last few centuries, with new approaches emerging!
The silver bullet may be the more elegant method but I've always found a good sharp wooden stake the best guarantee against recurrence.0
