Anyone had to have a stint put in kidney?
Anyone else done this before? The bag scares me and I don't know what to expect.

Hi, I sent u an email. I had the procedure done last year. Had the same thing they went thru the back and had it connected to a urine bag. It was a painful procedure, they should numb the area. Also if u r nervous maybe speak to your dr about something to calm your nerves. They should send u home with extra supplies, ask her to irragte it at home, its not hard to do. I had to get 1 done, due to left kidney was infected. As soon as they did that I felt so much better.
Right now I have a stent in the right urter(sp) have been doing this now for about a yr or more. They are talking about placing a metal one in, n it will stay for a yr. Usually I get alot of UTIs, but this last time it hasnt been to bad. I will have to go thru this for awhile.
I sent you my email address please feel free to email me anytime.
You r in my thoughts and prayers.

nephrostomy
I had one last december to try and save my left kidney. no joy. hauling around a bag of pee is no joy either, but better than losing a kidney. it was kind of interesting having it. watched them put the thing in - very cool. after it was evident my kidney was not going to recover, i had it removed december 23 - merry christmas to me! it was not as bad as i thought it would be.
best wishes

Thank you for your prayers. I appreciate them more than you know.
They tried to put in a stint but my kidney was inflammed so they went straight from my back to the kidney and I came home with a bag.
The bag hasn't been that bad just an inconvenience. I am suppose to go on Wednesday, the 25th, for them to put the stint in and take away the bag.
I am a little worried as I got my CEA results and it went from 21 to 41 in about 4 weeks. I had to pray and leave it at God's feet.
I really appreciate the information you gave me and also for checking on me.
I hope you are doing well and will remember you in my prayers.0 -

I think Ron50 had one done and would know the short term and long term effects.
I had a tube inserted in my left kidney and out my back also last year. Had to get it because of an infection. It wasnt to bad. I has happy the day they took it out. And havent had any probelms with it since then. But had another stent replacement done on Friday after 1 week of strong antibodtics via IV. Had a fever on and off for 1 day and that was it. Now the dr is just waiting to see what happens in August when I am scheduled to go into surgery for another issue. Not sure what they will due because of my right urterer.0 -
update on the stent exchanges
Hi,
Hope everyone is doing well. Some of you know that have been doing this stent exchange for almost 2 yrs. On 7 Dec I went in for the exchange, but on my way to the hospital I was lin alot of pain right away. Once I went upstairs to the 6th floor for same day procedures, I let the nurses now how much pain I was in. So while I was waiting to go downstairs to have the procedure done they have to give me morphine for pain which didnt even help. By the time I was taken to the 4th, it pain was worse off. When I woke up from the procedure I was told my old stent became dislodged on my way to the hospital. And the dr didnt know why. Needless to say, once I got home I was still in severe pain, high fever, began to thru open alot when I got home, I wasnt even home for an hour, my best friends and I called 911 so I could go back to the ER. I stayed at the ER throughout the night with a very good friend by myside. I was discharged to return home to return on Sunday afternoon via with the same issues. I was in the ER again until late Sunday evening. But I felt awhole lot better. Had more IV fluids and better medication. But this time that took alot out of me. Then from there my son ended up with the flu for a few days, then my daughter, plus I was still trying to receove from it all. It seemed the whole month of Dec we all were sick. Then my daughter ended up with strep throat for 2 weeks, then her right knee has issues. It was so much stress, I am glad that I dont have to work, that I am home. But with my health issues its harder to take care of them. Now we are in Jan we all are starting to feel better I hope ot stays this way
