Thanks everyone. I guess I may hear a summary from the surgeon tomorrow. If I'm very lucky it could be problem over. If not, then it could be a long hard road, or a short one but I"ll cope anyway the chips fall. We"re having glorious golfing weather lately but apparently snow may be not far away.0 -

Unfortunately I'm a bit on the back foot today with more pain - they maybe tried to cut my meds too quickly - will discuss with the Pain Team later.
Had been anticipating going home today but may have to stay longer. We've had a few inches of snow overnight and it's continuing to fall steadily. Must thank my Wife again for buying me a Kindle Fire to read books in hospital.0 -
Some senior love to cheer you up...Texas_wedge said:Feeling ?

I was in my back yard trying to launch a kite.
I threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few
seconds, then it would come crashing back down to earth.
I tried this a few more times with no success.
All the while, my wife was watching from the kitchen window,
Muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.
She opens the window and yelled to me,
'You need a piece of tail.'
I turned with a confused look on my face and yelled back,
'Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite0 -

Nearly burst my latest stitches!!!
As the welcomer on duty, Gary, maybe you can point lerizon to a more accessible place where she can be part of the current action?
My cabin fever is nearly over - other half picking me up from the ward this evening, with a suitable new supply of painkillers - Tramadol and paracetamol this time round. They took me off morphine immediately this time and I've not needed an antibiotic. I got some itching from the morphine but no rash so, apart from continuing discomfort, my only problem has been the inevitable constipation.0 -

Kinda like being a greeter at Walmart ha, ha. (You probably don't have Walmarts over there do you?)
Good to hear you are headed home and don't need the morphine this time around, I'll take that as a good indication that your recovery will be speedy and you'll be back "on course" ahead of schedule.
Per suggestion, I have encouraged lerixon to start a new thread for better visibility.

Now ensconced in front of my iMac again, at home - so much pleasanter than being in a hospital!!
We have a bottom end supermarket called ASDA which was acquired by Walmart a few years ago but I don't think they have 'greeters' . (By the way, 'greeting' is a lovely Scots word meaning grizzling!)
I may be "on course" Gary, but probably not for a while, if only because of snow. It was 1C when my Wife picked me up from the ward a couple of hours ago and we have predictions of a possible -8C tonight. This is amazing because only a week ago we were having temps. in the mid 20s Centigrade - breaking all records for hottest weather in March.
So I shall now make a nightcap to take my painkillers with and then retire to dream about playing golf again on somewhat warmer days.0 -

Glad to have you home T-W! Settle into your recliner and watch the Masters this weekend. And GET BETTER!

I'm not one for recliners Fox and will probably be too busy to watch the Masters (oh, I don't know though ) Won't be playing just yet - it's almost mid-day here now and we've got up to 4 C so I may go for a walk.
I've been doing a spot of research this morning and it's clear from "the statistics" that I 'probably' died quite some time ago but had failed to notice the fact.
Young Rory's going to be a hard man to beat at Augusta.0 -

The rumors of your demise have been somewhat exaggerated?
I'm rooting for Rory too! (Anyone but Tiger also works for me)0 -

While I have the opportunity, I have decided to consider the extent to which taking the correct, serious approach to the matter of having cancer apparently affects outcome and to review some of the suggestions that have been made for my situation.
I have a couple of golf-journalist friends, one of whom had a radical nephrectomy three years ago. I mentioned to him that, being a universal donor, I would need to remember that it would be essential to have 'O' Negative blood available and I would need to be circumspect. His advice was that I should rephrase that in case somebody in surgery misheard me.
Learning that my affliction had now turned even rarer - into metastatic, sarcomatoid, chromophobe renal cell carcinoma - my dear Daughter opined that if the hospital isn't prepared to name the variation after me I should demand my kidney back and go elsewhere.
My Wife cut the Consultant short as he was explaining the options for my treatment by saying "It's a no-brainer - just go ahead and cut him in half again."
It fits in well with Fox's reference to my going into hospital for a weight-reduction procedure. Meanwhile, Gary evidently had the Adventures of Robinson Crusoe in mind and has cast me as Robinson Crusoe in this thread which he's entitled "Thoughts of TW and Friday" (although I've yet to identify who my man Friday is!).
Perhaps most helpful was the advice of iceman who, back in December, after my first op. said "Be a Leader - Go for a Mulligan". I didn't know what a mulligan was but checked it out and so now I've played my mulligan and need to wait and see how it affects my final score.
Who knows where I would have been without all these useful thoughts from family and friends? ;-)0 -

A truer "comedy of horror" there may never be.
Circum humor
Two five year olds met in the hospital
one asked the other what he was in for.
"Need my tonsils out, what about you?"
"I'm getting circumcised" he said.
"OUCH" came the reply, "they did that to me
when I was born and it was a year before I could walk!"0 -

That's a lot of what it's all about and you're right that forums like this are priceless in helping everyone along when they're feeling down and desperate. There's always someone worse off and often they're coping better than we are so they show us what can be done. Keep hanging in there LD - a few short weeks and you'll have been set to rights.0 -
