MRI results
Hi,
Thank you for the prayers. We got the MRI results yesterday and the tumor has doubled in size. That is not as bad as it sounds though. The tumor without the etoposide grew 5 times larger then with the etposide. Her NO said that there is alot of room for the tumor to grow before she has any symptoms from it. We will see how things go.0 -

Hi Tina:
I am sorry to hear about your daughter's tumor. But, I am thankful that the medicine has slowed the growth. I know this sounds crazy, but I know that God made Sarah and I just image at the cellular level that God is killing all of the brain cancer cells in my daughter's head. I tell myself, if he can make her, he can save her. But, I am beginning to realize that he has a plan for each of us and I remain in faith that all things work together for our good. I know there are many things I do not understand. I try to think of other people suffering in other countries who do not have the healthcare that we have and I am so thankful that I can stay at home with Sarah and she can get her treatment here in Alaska. This road is so rough Tina. I pray for your hope and strength renewed everyday! Keep your faith and enjoy your daughter. Sending you God's Blessings Tina. Expect A Miracle (EAM) sometimes I write that on notes. It is nice to hear from you Tina.

It looks like we are in the same boat...our son's tumor has pretty much taken over at this point. He is on Avastin only, with the hope that it will improve quality of life and maybe help reduce the dose of Decadron. We are grateful that so far he has had no seizures or bad headaches.
We are taking one day at a time. Taking care of David is pretty much a full-time job for both my husband and me, which is taking a toll on our relationship, what with the stress and fatigue. Thank goodness we have home Hospice care...they have been a wonderful support.
Hugs and prayers,
Connie

P.S. Is you daughter still on the Avastin...and taking Decadron too?0 -

Hi Connie,
To answer your question about the Avastin, no she is not on that anymore. when she was on it she was cancer free, but then suffered a massive brain hemmorhage after being off of it for 3 months. The Docs will not put her back on it as she is now a high risk for brain hemmorhage. At this point in this journey the only thing we are able to do is try to slow down the growth and hope something new comes along.0 -

Thank you so much for letting us know about the MRI. I am so glad that you still have your faith through all of this. I agree 100%, God has a plan for each of us! Please remember that we all have you in our prayers!

Thank you, Tina, for the update. I think of you and your daughter all the time, and I'm always wondering how things are going. I pray often for both of you.
I'm glad that the treatment you are using is helping to slow the growth. David also took etoposide along with carboplatin and mephalan. But now his mass effect is so great that they are concerned about brain swelling, so he is just doing carboplatin every four weeks, and Avastin every two weeks. We have one more month to go before they do an MRI and see if it's helping or not.
Is your daughter able to go to school and do things with her friends? I hope she is feeling well enough to enjoy many, many special times.
Love, blessings, strength and peace to you and your little girl.
