TW is out of surgery, safe and well
Hello all, TW's daughter here again,

I'm pleased to tell you we've just called the hospital and they've said he's not only out of surgery (early!) but sitting up and having some tea!

Thanks again for all your wonderful support.

    Great news!
Great news! Now tell him to avoid the hospital spinach like the plague and get back here as soon as he can.

    Fantastic!!!
Thank you for the update, seems like I've been holding my breath all day. Lets hope they got the last of it this time or at least no more surgeries for years instead of months. Tell him I'll be downing a Guinness in his honor tonight. Gary

    OK
Thanks one and all. Turns out Fox was spot on - morphine-induced histamine release is too transient to account for the rash I had first time around so it was almost certainly due to the antibiotic. Sorry to have given a bum steer on that one. I hope I haven't destroyed my credibility here (at least I did say I couldn't be dogmatic about it).

My Wife and Daughter have just left after vouchsafing the . information that last time they could hardly recognise me on the first day. They did an unbelievable job in snowing me. Apparently my face and hands were hugely bloated, I looked shrunken, senile (there's a lovely Scots word - glaikit) and at least 90 years old. My Daughter reported that my Wife was terrified at having to leave my bedside!
They TELL me I'm totally different this time and I must say I feel it. Moral support here was greatly appreciated by us all.
Mike, my pulse was up at 71, BP 2 minutes ago was 116/65, O2 saturation 95, without using oxygen for several hours and creatinine, which was previously 53 , is over 60.

Bad news is that I haven't been offered any spinach so far so I'll need to get home ASAP.

    Welcome back, spinach and all
    Hi Tex,
I guess it's true, you just can't keep a good man down.
My wife told me that I looked haggard and old when they wheeled me from post-op to my room. Maybe not 90 like you but then again you start out five years ahead of me. Wow, that pulse and BP are terrific. I'm guessing your creatinine is down and GFR up because you are well-hydrated. That's helpful to know. Either that or you are Superman. Rest, rest, rest and mend.
Good to have you back after such a long absence.

    Figures
Mike, haven't seen ourDaughter for a while and we all talked into the small hours and I had to get the ladies breakfast at 5:30 a.m. so only got three hours sleep! So, put it down to lack of concrntration when I called my eGFR figure creatinine.

    Welcome back
Mike, I'm a bit uneasy after going AWOL (by exceeding permitted time-frame) until I get reliable information that the biker gang isn't coming to get me.

Thank you and your daughter for letting us know. I believe anyone who has had the benefit of TW's postings were feeling butterflies and anxious. I'm so glad he came through the surgery so well. Thanks again.
