Thoughts of TW and Friday...
Strange, it has been but a few short months, I have yet to see your face or learn your name, and still I have come to know you as more than a friend. You are one of a kind, your intellect, humor, and selfless desire to help others when most would be concerned with self is an inspiration and example for us all. You set the bar very high. I have mixed emotions, both glad and sad that you are here, you make this journey more bearable for everyone.
I'll be thinking of you Friday as you cross swords with the beast once again. If thoughts, well wishes, prayers, etc. were enough, you would be healed many times over by those of us here. Please let your wife know that the "extended family" is thinking of her as well. I wish I could be there in person to lend you both a hand or shoulder as needed.
My wish for you is smooth sailing in the days, weeks, months, and yes, YEARS to come. Remember, you can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails. I know, a golf metaphor would be more apropos, but I like what this says.
Your brother in spirit,
Gary

Gary, nothing I can add, the "feeling" is there though. TW, there is nothing I can offer more than what you already know, but I know you know that we wish you well.
R.
My sentiments echo what Gary wrote. Wish you the best TW, you will be in my prayers. I look forward to see your postings very soon.
Health and Happiness to all,

Absolutely everything Gary says goes for me also. T-W you are more than a friend. I constantly think of you and your upcoming weight loss procedure. Make your caregivers laugh and share your enthusiasm with them. You have lessened everyone else's load and will continue to do so without a doubt.

May the intelligence of the all pervasive omnipotent intelligence of the universe guide their hands during your surgery.
As you get closer, know this, you are protected.
I am saying it, and I need to learn this the most. We often speak what we need to hear the most. I am cognizant of it.0 -

Was in a pub the other night and saw two rather
large girls sitting at the bar.
They both had strange accents so I said "Hello,
are you two girls from Scotland?"
One of them gave me a dirty look and said, “It’s WALES you bloody idiot!"
So I immediately apologized and said "Sorry, are you two whales from Scotland?”
I get out of hospital tomorrow…0 -

My friend Tex
Gary, your sentiments are beautifully expressed. I'm sure we all have Friday noted in our calendars to think of and pray for our friend Tex.
Tex, we've only been conversing for four short weeks! Every time in those four weeks when I have been starting to feel anxious or depressed over my new cancer diagnosis I have thought of coming on this board and sharing those feelings. Then I would log on and you would be there answering EVERY thread with helpful research, compassion and insightful advice. And I would pick myself up by my bootstraps and try to follow your example by offering advice and encouragement where I could instead of sharing my negative emotions. After all, I really am One Lucky Girl. And I have also been thoroughly enjoying the friendly banter :-).
On Friday I'll be thinking of you and your wife and daughter. We will be very eager to hear from you once you're feeling up to it.
Much love,
OLG xoxo0 -

...Good luck my friend! I'm sure you are NPO after midnight. So, just to be funny, make sure you eat your refried bean burritos about 11:30. What the heck. The doctors wear masks anyway. They will all start looking at each other. Each thinking the other one did it!
do us proud T-W!

All a bit over the top, folks. But there's a saying on the golf course that's apt here - when someone's hit a good shot, you say 'You won't want that back!' and I won't ask anyone here to take anything above back! In fact it makes me all the more determined to come back for more
Yesterday I was giving shots on holes 2 and 3 (winter hole order) and got too tense against a seasoned old campaigner (he followed Ben Hogan round when the latter famously won the Open at Carnoustie in 1953). I lost the first 5 holes. The weather was perfect and it was played in great sporting spirit, with plenty of anecdotes and golfing banter.
I won the 13th 14th and 15th to go 2 down with 3 to play and I then played a 5 wood on the 16th (notoriously the most difficult par 3 in world championship golf - Tom Watson won the Open there without ever making par on it [see http://www.golftoday.co.uk/tours/tours99/open/preview15.html ]
There was a strong following wind and I reckoned my opponent would drive right through the green (the pin was at the back) in his zeal to stop the rot and see me off. In fact he played a peach of a shot to 5 feet below the pin so it was 'Thank you and goodnight'! He bought me a pint in the clubhouse - he had beer, I had lime and soda.
However, my crucial game is the big one tomorrow and I'll be in touch again as soon as I can - hopefully via this medium and not the other kind!0 -

Hello all,
This is TW's daughter sneakily stealing his keyboard while he's getting ready for his op.
I was touched when Dad mentioned GaryM had created a good luck thread, but I had no idea what heartfelt, and beautifully expressed, wishes I'd see from so many people (and some truly terrible/wonderful jokes )
I am overwhelmed to read the kind words about the dad I know and love. I, obviously, think the glowing descriptions are spot on, but it's wonderful to know he has such good friends to cherish him and keep him company on his journey, with the experience (although I wish none of you had that) to give him good advice just when he needs it.
Much much appreciation to you all,
TW's darling daughter and dear wife
PS I'll pop into this thread and let you know as soon as he's out.0 -
