This mess
So sorry to hear you are having such severe side effects. Please do make sure you inform your doctor immediately of these problems and, please, do not hesitate to call them immediately when you have a problem. I have had 6 months of chemo plus 1 year Herceptin. I had nausea, diarrhoe, threw up some bitter tasting stuff (ugh!) and had other problems, the most serious connected with my blood pressure and meds. First I got Herceptin infusion, this was followed by anti-nausea infusions and then chemo. Actually, I gained 10 lbs. during the whole ordeal. My regimen was - 12 Taxol, four A/C+5FU at 3 week interval, Herceptin every week. To keep nausea at bay during the 4 sessions of A/C and 5FU (Fluoruacil)I was prescribed 2 extremely expensive mediations I had to bring with me and take over 3 and 4 days to further suppress nausea. Please, do make sure you are given all the help available to you. To prevent mouth sores, the doctor gave us a recipe for a home made mouth wash, wished I'd remember it. The American Cancer Society has a booklet with information on diet during themo, what to eat or avoid if you have....symptoms, it helped me a lot. I got it when I first met the surgeon to have the port inserted.
My Dear Pink Sister, some of us go through chemo holding down a job, some us us (like me) have such hard time and think it's not possible to go on another day, but, we do, we walk that hard walk, for - what is the choice?
Lots and lots of warm hugs Margeaux
PS - Just wanted to mention this - My chemo infusion lasted much longer than 30 minutes, at least 1-1/2 - 2 hrs, the first time even longer0 -

You don't say what your chemo is, but there are SO many drugs and things to prevent these side effects. Ask at your cancer center and make sure you understand all the pre and post treatment things you are supposed to be doing, including prescription drugs you should use or have on hand. For mouth sores, dissolve 1/2 tsp salt in a glass of warm water and use after every meal to prevent them. If you already have them, use it every couple of hours for relief.
I'm praying that things start to go better for you.

Call your oncologist and he
Call your oncologist and he can prescribe something to help with the side effects. Oh I see I'm answering you too late. Your appointment is today. Make sure you tell them what you are experiencing. Don't wait for an appointment. No need to suffer. I had a hard time on chemo also but not like you are having. I hope it goes better for you.0 -

You probably have the mouthwash by now but years ago in the South it was called "Dr. King's Magic Mouthwash" containing lidocaine and an antifungal agent. The sores are caused by Candida Albican and they can give you Diflucan tabs as well. I also ate a lot of yogurt. Praying for you on your journey.0 -

Battscave, there are things you can get for mouth sores that should help and they can give you something also to help with the nausea. Please let the oncologist and chemo nurses know and I bet they can help you.
Take care,
Diane
Please call your onc now. Cancer is bad enough but having all of these ugly side effects just makes it 100 times worse. I take compazine for nausea. It worked great last year while I was doing chemo & so far it' seems to be working this time. Also, for the mouth sores ask him/her for a lidocaine swish ( use it just like mouthwash 3 times per day) and use an extra soft toothbrush with biotine toothpaste & mouthwash. I learned last time that the only thing I could drink was super ice cold bottled water & do far that's the case this time. Please try to eat, I know it's hard but your body needs the fuel to help you fight. I eat a lot of potatoes, rice, and things smothered in ranch dressing. ( all the stuff that isn't good for you, but at this point it's working for me)
Im so very sorry that you are going through this and I truly hope it gets better for you. Please remember that you are stronger than you realize and you can do this. Your pink sisters and brothers are here with you. You will be in my prayers.
Hugs and God Bless,
