I can't imagine you are doing everything on those web sites. Some of the information is new to me and I don't want to do anything to interfere with chemo. Please share specifically what you are doing & if you did anything at the same time as chemo. Or if you did chemo or not.
Thanks. I have tried a lot of alternative therapies that didn't work or weren't strong enough I guess.0 -

Hi dear, I did alternative cancer treatment, I refused chemo...Wha I am taking is purple mushroom defense which is a natural medicine that comes in pills so you don't taste the mushrooms...I have been with this medicine for almost 3 years, and it works for me!!! I also went to El Salvador for the alternative treatment called Bryomixol (Bryomed.com), you can talk to the docs over the phone (they won't charge you fr consultation)...Up to today, I jut check with docs about the cancer, and there is no sign Thank God!!!!...In that webssite about cancer strategies, you don't hve to do all of them, but te main thing is to keep your inmune system at the best!!!...Let m know if u need anymore info, I'll be glad to give it to you!!!0 -

Granpatty, can you give us some details on your diagnosis? There is nothing in your profile. I am wondering especially about what stage you were diagnosed in and what cell type or types. I think there is nothing wrong with trying alternative treatments if they do not interfere with chemo, but it is dangerous to encourage others to skip chemo when it is recommended by a qualified gynecologic oncologist.
It's wonderful that you are still OK, but I also wonder how much you actually know about what the immune system really is. It's easy to say we need to keep the immune system at it's best, but it's not at all like keeping one's car shiny and running smoothly. We just do not know everything about the immune system, and in fact, as was reported on this forum, there is recent evidence that a part of the immune system can promote some cancers.0 -

Thanks for your input...Let me just be clear on something, I am not asking people to not to take chemo, but to explore alternatives that might work for them. I have been in libraries, internet, talking to doctors for the last 2 years, getting information about chemo and another alterntives... My cancer was 1c, which was leaking at the time of surgery and I did need chemo, but for some other reasons I refused the chemo... That's when I started going to the libraries, reading medical books about chemo and other alternatives, and then of course I found this website of the cancer alternatives in El Salvador...When I was down there in El Salvador, I met at least 6 people some from Australia, some from USA having that treatment because they have tried everything here and nothing has worked for them, different kind of cancers different stages...the treatmnt worked for them...Chemo works for some people, it does not work for others...Altenative treatments work for some people, it does not work for others, but at least there are alternatives that doctors don't let you know, so I would say, if someone wants to explore these alternatives, go ahead, but the last decision belongs to that person!!!The inmune system? Well, talk to the doctors about it, but look fo different opinions and then make a decision. I tahnk God, that I made the right decision and that I am still alive thank to the righ decision!!!0 -

Hi Granpatty,
Can you please post the history of your disease? What stage you were and the interventions that took place to cure your OvCA?
Thanks!
Hi there...I was diagnose with stage 1c, at the time of my operation, the tumor that was in one of my ovaries, was leaking and that was why I needed chemo...After my surgeery, I got in really bad shape, a lot of pain in my abdomen, I could only ate crakers and water, I lost around 15-18 pounds in 2 weeks, so I was really afraid...Docs here did so many tests, and nobody could tell me what what's going on, until i finally took the decision to go out of the country and get second opinions... Finally, docs in Honduras and in El Salvador told me that my problem were adhesions...Thank God they performed surgery because I was in bad shape, they even told me that it was an emergency intervention... Well, I did the alternative cancer treatment in El Salvador and so far so good...I saw people over there with stage 2 and 3 cancer, and they are doing pretty good... This treatmnt is pretty good, but it might work for some people, it might not work for some other people, but really need to talk to the doctors...By the way, they are real doctors, one is an oncologyst-gynecologyst, one is an internal medicine, and the other one is a microbiologyst, so you can talk to them if you like, th website is bryomed.com, and they won't charge u if you call them....I am still taking some other natural medicines like purple mushroom defense, which works pretty good in my inmune system, aso I take turmeric, even my oncologyst here in the USA is very surprise that I went all natural and the cancer is under control...I'll be happy to give u more info if you need it...Good luck0 -

Having as much information about all aspects of treating cancer whether it be main stream proven medicine, diet, supplements, integrative, homeopathic, spiritual, ect. We can use all of the tools to help keep us all in remission.
BUT>>>>now this is the health care provider in me...always look at the information with a skeptical eye...evaluate the info from it's sources and make sure you talk it over with your health care provider. They can always help you understand those treatments and individualize it to your specific needs.
Many times for me as a provider, I think less is best. It is important to allow our bodies to manage day to day needs without interference of chemicals. However, that means we have to do everything we can to keep our bodies in a healthy state with nutrition, exercise, emotional , psychological, and environment well being.
But remember...as we all know...sometimes disease gets us regardless.. we still have to do all we can but we also have to be vigilant that we do not ignore treatments that may be essential. All of us have individual cases with individual needs. The difficulty we have as providers and patients is that money comes from pharmaceutical companies, thus treatments that can make a profit do get the clinical, randomized trials which are the gold standard of care. Supplements, holistic medicine is not a money maker thus you will not find the clinical randomized trials, but it doesn't mean they are not useful.
Ok Im long winded today... Here is my big beef... Someone posted increased risk of ovarian cancer with increased height. So we all know how bogus that is...and in my mind what a waste of good research money. Why can't they spend a few more dollars on holistic care and its proven value.
Just remember ladies use all the tools with in your comfort zone and verify the safety. Remember risk benefit ratio which means is the benefit of treatment out weight the risk.0 -

Totally agree with you!!!! I love your post.... As I said before, it is really up to you to research, talk with your provider and make your own decision....Sometimes we just need to do a little bit of homework to find out about all kind of alternatives...We also need to ask questions to find out more about our research.... Tumeric is found in curry and is an anti-inflammatory. It gives Curry the yellow color. It is in my book "Keeping cancer out of the kitchen". Remember cancer cells not only like sugar, but they love inflammation. So increasing your diet with foods to reduce inflammation is always a good thing to keep the body balanced and help it fight cancer. I have an article I give many of my patients about the anti-inflammatory diet. I use it for my chronic pain patients especially fibromyalgia and arthritis diseases.0 -

I am in remission for stage 3c and I went thru chemo last year. I take tumeric every day because it's an anti inflammatory. I take it in a small glass of warm milk with black pepper. I go for a scan May 4th. So we will see what they say. I take it because why not? It can't do anymore harm that's for sure.0 -
