what I mean by that, are some aggressive, and some more slow? I would swear I can feel this cancer growing (like the ringing in my ears seems louder, and I can feel pressure above the lymph node)...which could be my imagination, and maybe I slept funny...I keep trying to tell myself that the wait is making me neurotic. I just don't understand why I'm only one who sees this as an urgent problem :). My PET scan isn't until the 20th...and I had to get forceful to get an appointment with the ENT before mid-April (got one for the 26th).

Tonsildad, I don't know how you stood the waiting for 4 months...

    Waiting.
    Hi Phrannie,
As most people on the board will tell you, the waiting ...wether its for bloodwork, CT scans
PET scan results or anything the anxiaty drives you potty. It is in us all "the fear of not knowing"
But we all get through it in the end. I've learned the people on here are priceless, they are a
Combined medical dictionary, It has been a blessing to be a part of it as I go through
Treatment. My wife, daughter and other family and friends have all been so positive and
Along with the Man Upstairs I will get through this and go on to live life to the fullest.

    AND SO WILL YOU!!!!!

    God bless each and everyone.

    Maybe youve heard the expression
"the Patience of Job?" Well, the expression has now been changed to "The Patience of Tonsildad." The delay between my first diagnosis and the initiation of radiation was about 2 months. Most of that couldn't be avoided. Searching for the right doctor, scheduling the surgery, recovering from the surgery.....

Felt like I could feel the cancer growing, too. But I was cured of that malignancy, so I guess it was just how it felt....

    LOLOLOLOLOL....
Ok Pat...I'll tuck that one in my pocket..."Patience of Tonsildad"...felt good to laugh, and I did!

I'll put away my crystal ball...again...damn thing has probably only worked twice in my life, anyway...and quit the projecting. I'm going to have to lengthen my mantra to "I'm going to be ok, as long as I stay in the day"...

It's so good to be able to come here and know somebody will be there to say "step down...step back...relax". And make me laugh, too.

They're not all the same. I had NPC, and it is maybe a little unique in the H&N arena, and can be detected under a microscope with the biopsy cell structure- three different ones are known. And, yes, some are faster than others, I think I've heard.

For me, my two growths showed in November, had my first ENT in mid-December, and treatment started the first week in February. Takes a couple months for the tests and the exact treatment plan, etc., so get started for a lot of us- though I think with the advanced it's typical to get started rather soon, and with an Op for removal.
