Flank pain
Hello
I think the discomfort you're describing is flank pain. I had this for about a year. Also, you might be feeling the nerves reconnecting from being cut. I'm not into exercising, but I can tell you that it took a really long time till I got my energy back. No need to rush
things. I know you want to get back to "normal" as fast as you can. But.....it will happen
within time.
Take Care

Kidney Pain
Hi GP,
I also had a right partial nephrectomy and I know what you mean about the pain. I was just mentioning it to my wife today. I feel like I have incision pain and an inner kidney pain. As you said, they're not bad pains, just twinges or aches that come and ago but I think they are 2 separate types of pain. But I've never done this before (thank goodness) so I'm not sure what it is.
As far as exercise, I'm a very serious cyclist but I haven't ridden for 14 weeks since surgery because I wanted to heal properly. I love cycling and it means so much to me that I don't want to screw it up by starting too early. I do plan to get back on the bike next week. I planned to wait until mid-March and it's here! I will ease into it and build up the miles slowly. I've listened to Fox and took my time getting back into it plus I listened to Gary and I'm walking 4 miles per day. I think I'm ready to get back on the bike and I'm excited!
Good luck to you in your recovery.

Your not working out for 14 weeks, I am at 7 weeks now and walking, jogging feels funny. Too much jiggling and when lifting weights I can feel the pull of my abs. Guess I will just wait, I just want to get back to normal. No core work for me though, that freaks me out now that my insides have been a chopped up lol.
Glad I am not the only one with the funny twinges and aches. It is totally a inner kidney ish pain, it is so hard to explain to people. I feel like the best description is that you can feel the kidney, when all other organs just go unnoticed. I think it is just the normal healing process but it just is weird. And since no one I know has a clue what I have been through its hard to talk to them about it.
Thanks!0 -

Yes, it is hard to describe how it feels. I've said that often to friends. If you've never had your kidney carved on, I don't think you can relate!
I have been walking more and more since surgery, hallway at the hospital, end of the driveway at home...then to the neighbor's driveway and back, then to the next driveway and back...on and on to where I'm walking 3.5 to 4 miles most days now. Plus I restored an old 1950's Schwinn bicycle in the meantime and I cruise around on it several days a week. But I get back on my real bike this week!
