Message from Ray aka daBeachBum
Thought I would give you a quick update. I am settled in comfortably in the first floor condo. I am on hospice care and have been taking far fewer pills and infusions. I haven't eaten real food in weeks and am pencil thin. I prolly won't make it through the month, but am happy and content. Luckily there's no pain for me. I throw up a lot of bile, but it's manageable. My family has dropped everything and this little condo is always chock full of people. I have been seeing some friends to say goodbye. It makes me tired but is worthwhile.
I send love and warm thoughts to you all. I am ok and wish you all the best and strength to each of you in your fight.
Love,
Ray

Hi Ray, thank you for updating us on the board. I have to say that you have the most curage and that you are still giving a lot of love is awesome. And that you are surronded by family and love, thats the most important. Good that pain is taken care of. I think you are wounderful being able to let your friends and family take their goodbyes and to collect memories. Hope the time left will be peaceful for you. I will remember you.

DaBeachBum- Raymond Moore
Dear Friends of Raymond Moore (DaBeachBum)
My name is Patty Moore and I am one of the four siblings of Raymond Moore (aka.. DaBeach Bum) our baby brother. I am writing on behalf of my family to inform you that our beloved Raymond lost his courageous battle with cancer, on February 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Raymond ended his journey with cancer the same as he started, with grace, acceptance and an uncanny sense of humor. Our family is well aware of the support and love he had for this support group, as Raymond spoke of the friendships he forged and lessons learned and shared with all of you. Raymond, ever the charismatic and “minister” of comfort took the opportunity in the weeks preceding his passing, to reach out to friends and family members to say his goodbye’s and explicitly informing us not to mourn him, but to continue to celebrate life. He reminded all of us that he had “front-loaded” his life with great journeys, experiences and relationships that he basked in! Please help our family remember Ray’s legacy, by sharing a hug, a laugh, a good glass of wine and of course a good meal with someone you cherish.
Please be assured that we will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. We should all strive to keep the spirit of the”DaBeachBum” alive in our hearts as we seek courage and inspiration in our individual journeys’.
Thank you all for your support of Raymond,
Love,
The Moore Family0 -

Ray did tell us that he was surrounded by the love and support of those around him. My very sincere condolences go out to you and to your family. I know that he would want his life celebrated rather than mourned and, yes, he was indeed a minister of comfort. He has kept me thinking positively over the past year and for that, I've been very grateful. Sharing things here has not only helped me to look at my own illness in an accepting rather than an angry way but has also given me the strength to never give up trying to be the navigator of my own life. I know I'm not the only one here to have been inspired by his courage and humanity. My family will toast Ray's life tonight with a glass of wine .. our thoughts are very much with you and yours ...0 -

I was always so inspired by your brothers outlook on his journey with cancer, it seems by your words that you are a strong and loving family and you will have given each other so much comfort along the way, I will continue to be inspired by Ray as mums journey continues and draw strength from that.
Take care all of you and be so proud of your Brother for all he gave even to us that he never met....... Lots of love and hugs, SueX0 -

I never met DaBeachBum but felt like I've known him forever. I continue to keep my memories of his encouraging words and strength close to my heart. He was inspiring as are all the others who fight this battle.
We remember you all in our prayers as well.
